Is the Kentucky Association of Counties fallout about to harm our Gas Station Governor? Prominent Democrats in Frankfort tell me that’s exactly what could happen tomorrow.
I hear the executive director search committee will meet for its last time tomorrow and recommend/nominate Bill Patrick to replace Bob Arnold. Patrick, a former Democrat, has in recent years aligned himself with David Williams and other Republicans (Ernie Fletcher, for one) in exchange for sweet appointments.
All this comes in the face of Steve Beshear who thinks his guy, Tony Wilder (DLG, former Boyle Co J-E), will get the top KACo spot. After speaking with several people who work directly for Beshear, it’s pretty obvious that they don’t see any of this coming. That is– if Patrick gets the job over Wilder.
What are you hearing out there, kids?

Is Bill Patrick the Lawrenceburg attorney, or a different Bill Patrick?

Oh, you’re talking about Bill Patrick the Kentucky county attorneys executive director, aren’t you? If so, no need to post my comments. Thanks!

he’s the former director of the KDP…and there are reportedly questions about why he left there…

Is this the Bill Patrick from Powell County/Winchester area?

I have it on good authority, from an elected official of Christian County, that the KACo search committee tomorrow will decide to interview or hire Ed Hatchett, Dana Nickells, or Tony Wilder.
It appears that Hatchett is now the front runner, with Wilder campaigning hard for the job.

let’s see…Ed Hatchett and local government experience? none. bringing partisanship to an organization? perfect.
let’s see…Bill Patrick worked for KDP. Bob Arnold once worked for KDP. Patrick worked for DLG. Arnold worked for DLG. Patrick was a county judge. Arnold was a county judge. Arnold worked at 400 Kings Daughters Drive. Patrick works at 400 Kings Daughters Drive.
No idea where KACO is on the hiring process but would better served by bringing in someone who will make positive changes and recognizes that KACO was mismanaged but could be a star organization in Kentucky. Don’t know Dana Nickells, Tony Wilder or Tommy Turner but have heard they are all interested. Turner has been quoted in articles on KACO talking about the mismanagement. They need someone who will get rid of 3-4 more people and make strides on behalf of local governments.

Bill Patrick is one of the most creative, dynamic, and honorable leaders in Kentucky. Those who don’t know his journey should not be condemning him. He is the best candidate who has so far been identified—by far. There is no need to diss the others. They all bring attributes to the table. Patrick happens to be the best candidate. Give him that or don’t write stuff about which you are ignorant. You show your own when you do that…..not that it bothers some very much.

I wish Frankfort had a blog like P1K. With the small town atmosphere and everyone knowing everyone, it would be a winner.
If only I could find someone to be the writer? Any ideas?

The State Journal comments section fills the bill pretty nicely sometimes.
