Quite possibly the most terrifying and amazing story I have ever read. Can’t wait to read his book. [MSNBC]
The Kentucky Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty is not happy with Jack Conway. [KCADP]
You won’t want to miss the story of the Courier-Journal sending a demand that I remove a photograph taken in a public space on a public sidewalk from a public street from my website. I love you, C-J, and all of your free publicity generated when you drum up silly fights like this. I consider this a great endorsement! [Page One]

Ruh or for Papaw? The Court of Appeals has ruled that a governor’s pardoning power is limited to criminal cases. The Executive Branch Ethics Commission is now free to pursue an ethics case against Basil Turbyfill. [Bluegrass Politics]
Yeah, this is just what Kentucky students need. Let’s count them present in class when they attend sports event during the school day. The dumbing down of America continues. [Amanda Van Benschoten]
Yes, Mike Slaton really is a formidable challenger to Tom Riner. And it doesn’t help that Riner has done an abysmal job as a legislator in the state house. Check out Slaton’s preview video. [YouTube]
What is it that Downtown Lexington needs? Other than, you know, no more parks built when the Webb Family and Mayor Newberry demolish an entire block. [H-L]
The Kentucky Department for Public Health and the Kentucky Pharmacists Association today announced a new mobile pharmacy unit has been purchased to provide pharmaceutical services during disasters and emergencies. This is great news for Kentucky! [Press Release]
If you’re a meth head in Kentucky, you should probably take note. They’re coming for you. [Gabe Bullard]

“The Sports God Blooms In KY”
Allowing students to count attendance at sports tournaments as being “present in school epitomizes how Americans view education, as opposed to athletics. And that is yet another reason why we are seldom looked up to by the rest of the world.
P.S. The only major game at Oxford and Cambridge is their once-per-year crew event.

Novena–you are so correct…
Was anybody at the dedication of the building at U of L yesterday? Very few were i bet. What a shame–naming a building after the shoe…
I would like to know who was this “broad based” committee that recommended this?????

Novena,
I share your sentiment.
…but as a long time rugby player I have to point out that the Oxford/Cambridge Rugby match is a pretty big event as well.

which also explains how-in my opinion-someone who is unintelligent and unqualified can still be elected governor in Kentucky because they played basketball for the state’s most popular public university…and better yet, that people actually believe that would be a good thing!

SW, What has hiring millionaires, lawyers, educated people done for Kentucky?
We are in the bottom 5 of every good economic category and in the top 5 of every bad economic category while hiring people who brag about their education.
I’m ready to throw the bums out. Farmer does have two college degrees but he doesn’t go around waving it in everyones face. People who wear their credentials on their arm have put Kentucky in a near depression state.
I’m ready to hire anybody for Governor who is not of the mainstream political groups. Right now it’s Farmer. He can’t make it any worse than we have been for the last 50 years.
Too bad Rand Paul hasn’t set his sites on the Governor’s Office.
If none of them do, I’ll vote for you for Governor!

Thunderstorm you said:

Let’s see…used a campaign sign that is shaped like a basketball goal, has a basketball in corner of it, is blue and white. Film commercial labeled “unforgettables” using state dollars with 4 of your friends from college. change the gas inspection stickers on gas pumps around the state from yellow and black to blue and white with your name in the largest font on them…nah, that’s not wearing your credential on your sleeve is it? why doesn’t farmer talk about his degrees and his accomplishments? maybe his grades aren’t so good and as for accomplishments, kind of hard to brag about what you don’t have, eh?

As I stated yesterday, Farmer is as educated as Collins and more educated than Wilkinson. And I’d rather have someone who shares my ideology and political beliefs on how government should be run who can surround himself or herself with intelligent people than an absolute genius who doesn’t have a clue as to how to govern.

Conservative…”how government should be run who can surround himself or herself with intelligent people than an absolute genius who doesn’t have a clue as to how to govern”…
These are different skill sets eh…
Super intelligent technical people are recruited by a leader who is not threatened by having superior people around him. Unfortunately sycophants are in vogue…

Conservative you struck out with Farmer then…
he’s an idiot and he has surrounded himself with idiots and has no ideology except for that which others around him tell him to have and he certainly has no clue as to how to govern…unless you count how to hold a government job with a government vehicle and do nothing for 6 soon 8 years.

Hey, I’ve got my issues with Farmer, but if I had to choose between him and Trey Grayson, or him or Steve Beshear, or him or Greg Stumbo, I know which basket I’d shoot the ball at.

serving as governor is the big league…richie did alright in college but didn’t have the credential nor the stature to get any further…and even if he had he would have never made it because he couldn’t have performed…much the same!
