Kimberly Greenwell: Wrong About Legislation

November 20th, 2009 · 5 Comments

Kimberly Greenwell, the Steve Henry apologist and everybody-hater who will lose to Ron Crimm, says she will “fight to protect Kentucky’s women.”

In her latest email blast (she’s still illegally spamming us at multiple email addresses), however, she gets terribly confused:

Right now if you are a woman in Kentucky who is trapped in an abusive relationship you are not eligible to file for an order of protection from the family court system unless you are living with your abuser.

Fortunately, our legislators, led by Speaker of the House Greg Stumbo, are currently considering legislation that will help close these loopholes. Speaker Stumbo has pre-filed Amanda’s Bill for the 2010 legislative session that would give judges the authority to require offenders named in domestic violence orders to wear an electronic monitoring device that would allow their victims to know if they are approaching.

Unfortunately, Kimberly is confusing the issue. Legislation to close dating violence loopholes has been filed by Joni Jenkins and has nothing to do with Greg Stumbo.

You’d think that fighting for women would actually involve mentioning the woman responsible for the legislation you allegedly stand behind.

Woops.

The best example as to why this legislation is a horrible idea is this – two college students go out on a couple of dates. One decides not to date the other any more – so the other gets an EPO and forces them to drop classes and move from the dorm. Two co-workers go out for drinks, one drops the other, and whammo, an EPO to get even. PEOPLE LIE (or embellish) as Ms. King said, all the time in EPO petitions – and even admit that “I was upset” etc. Well, you can’t unring the bell, and an EPO IS a big deal.

If the person DOES something to you, forget the EPO, take out criminal charges – that automatically gives you the same protections as an EPO.

Jake, Jake, Jake. Silly boy! See how long you can keep doing this to people and see how much longer you will be around! All positive coming in and all negative going out! How fun!

How long can I keep pointing out the facts?

    As long as I’m alive.

Fact is, Kimberly was sorely wrong about the legislation. And she IS a Steve Henry apologist.
