Really? Why even issue a statement if you’ve yet to get a final decision?
Here’s the statement just released from the Governor’s Office:
FRANKFORT, Ky. (Nov. 19, 2009) – “Until now, we had been encouraged by the possibility of Harley-Davidson coming to Kentucky. However, with the recent union vote and published reports, it appears our opportunity is significantly diminished. Nevertheless, we will continue our discussions with the company and do all that we can to bring jobs to Kentucky until a final decision is made.”
I know I’m hyper-critical of our Gas Station Governor. But.
Whiskey Tango Foxtwat?
What the heck is in the water in Frankfort this week? Could someone please explain?
UPDATE @ 8:38 PM –
Soo…. When will some intrepid reporter ask Papaw Beshear why he allowed the H-D folks to use Kentucky to break up their union/get a better deal?
Both prominent Republicans and Democrats have been telling me the same thing for days and days.
This isn’t going over too swell.

Poor ole One Termer Beshear cannot land ANY jobs for our Commonwealth.. I was told it was a done deal except for David Williams signing off on the tax incentives. Guess I was told wrong, it was Beshear again.
One thing you would think he would learn after 2 years+in office… Quit reporting these companies coming to Kentucky until they hire the first employee.
How many times has he been burned now? 3, 4 more times

I’d love to say that it’s David Williams’ fault.
Unfortunately, it’s not.
It’s just more of that jumping the gun to which we have all grown accustomed.

I’m afraid that with the governor’s office, we went from corrupt to one-trick pony (casinos).
Can’t Kentucky do better than this?

I was told that by a state senator that attended the meeting with HD and our legislators in the Senate.
Williams, early on, did not immediately support the tax incentives being offered.
Ultimately Beshear and his economic team did a terrible job on incentives and selling the union on Kentucky.
I wonder if Beshear and his economic team visited the current Harley factory to assure the union employees Kentucky is a great place to live and work?
