“KY Is Better for Horses than Humans”

On the study criteria for assessing a state’s health, it is no accident that KY ranks so low. We have little wealth (except for the High Priests of commerce and government), inadequate schooling, and, on the whole, hardly tolerant residents. Add on poor physical and emotional well-being, unhealthy behaviors (e.g., smoking and lack of exercise), and job loss. You have a state dominated by pols and other institutional leaders who could care less about the common good. Right–Mitch, Jim, Ben, JR, Shellie, etc.? (Don’t pull a hernia on your way to the bank. And say hello to Felner while you are there.)
