Trey Grayson: Still Pretending to be Conservative

November 10th, 2009 · 11 Comments

Last night Trey Grayson had a town hall – via telephone – and Amanda Van Benschoten suffered through it.

Highlights:

Like Bunning, “I will vote the Reagan Republican way,” Grayson said. “That’s the way I’ve governed in Frankfort, and that’s what I’ll do in the U.S. Senate.”

Because we all know the office of Secretary of State is partisan and there’s really a Reagan way to govern there. Right?

He also made his position on abortion clear: ”To me, life begins at conception, and abortion is murder.” He said he would support a federal ban on abortion.

Yet another issue that’s going to help Rand Paul. The “moderate” Republicans who think Paul is a libertarian automatically look at Grayson’s fake position and run in the opposite direction.

Grayson opposes cap-and-trade legislation, and said the Obama administration and Democratic leaders “have declared war on coal, and when they do that I think they’re declaring war on Kentucky.”

Quite a far cry from his private stance of saying King Coal has a stranglehold on Kentucky legislators.

He also took a jab at the media and at recent polls that show him running even with opponent Rand Paul of Bowling Green: “The press is going to try to define this race in their own terms, but let me assure you, this campaign is going to be build about people, and that’s the only thing that matters,” Grayson said. “I will always put Kentucky first.”

Never mind that the press hasn’t bothered to spin or define anything in the Republican primary. The press has merely reported the numbers from independent polls which indicate Grayson is in a statistical dead heat with Paul.

What you think, Paultards? Isn’t it about time Trey Grayson came clean about his faux Conservatism?

Awwww, it’s so cute to see him trying to dance to the right.

    Ronnie Raygun! Abortion cliches! Val-yuhs!

He has taking the phrase “phoning it in” to a new level.

According to Trey and National Right To Life there are over 50 Million murderers in this country.

I’ll never go out again, it is not safe.

It’s beyond just faux Conservatism. This guys a faux candidate. Other than phone calls, you almost have to put out an Amber Alert to find this guy campaigning. If he’s in a statistical “dead heat” with Paul he’s behind.

he has a horrible staff…couple of boys he has working as his chief of staff and spokesman are in over their heads. you should see how they have treated many past supporters (emphasis on past).

I find this really strange. I mean, he doesn’t even do establishment candidate well. Voters like to see you working hard. One person commented that Trey Grayson is actually “sitting for senate” instead of running for it.

It’s cute how people think it’s a-okay to make anonymous personal attacks.

Fact of the matter is Trey has one of the most skilled political crews in the Commonwealth. Which, to politicos, is why it’s surprising to watch his political capital get spent so quickly. I’ve yet to find a Grayson campaign finance screw-up, an ethical lapse or questionable behavior. And it’s because of his staff. I can’t say the same for the other candidates – Republican or Democratic.

Cincinnati.com came out with all of the candidates’ personal financial information and showed Grayson’s assets between $11K-$165 with no liabilites. Can’t believe that! Doesn’t Trey own a home? If it is true, it’s pathetic. Do we want someone like this spending and managing our tax money? All of the other candidates had considerably more, but they are all either doctors or practicing attorneys..

I love it when people don’t bother reading before commenting.

this is a VERY old posting…

    did trey grayson actually say
“King Coal has a stranglehold on
    Kentucky legislators.” quote, unquote…???

in light of the methane in thr W.Va mine
and the fines and the lack of repairs,
as RAND PAUL is in coal country
    campaigning, where is trey on
this all? if he is an obediant
    sidekick of a senator, why
vote for him if his heart
    goes ONE way and his
    lips say something
    totally different?
