What Does Daniel Mongiardo Have to Hide?

October 30th, 2009 · 3 Comments

Yesterday, Daniel Mongiardo used his state resources as Lieutenant Governor to send out a press advisory announcing his appearances at two different events – on state time – to discuss health care reform:

Lt. Gov. Daniel Mongiardo will be making two appearances on Friday, October 30 to talk about healthcare reform and legislation. The first will be in London, Ky. where he’ll discuss what’s new in healthcare legislation. The second will be in Lexington, Ky. where he will speak on the importance of health information technology.

That’s right. Two public events on state time. To discuss his views – as Lt. Governor (allegedly) – on health care reform.

The events were, indeed, open to the public. A reporter close to Mongiardo’s senate campaign was allowed inside. But when individuals affiliated with Jack Conway’s U.S. Senate campaign tried to attend the event, they were barred entry. Barred from a public event – which state resources were used to publicize, where the acting Lt. Governor was speaking on state time.

So, was this a public event that truly benefited state government? Is that why state resources were used? Or are these secret health care meetings that have to be protected from public scrutiny?

What does Daniel Mongiardo have to hide?

Why is Daniel Mongiardo abusing state resources for his own personal benefit?

    Heh.

P.S. Lt. Dan’s campaign staff were in Lexington filming. So it appears he’s either illegally preventing the public access to a public event or he illegally used state resources to promote a campaign activity.

Oh, cute. Lt. Dan’s campaign staff are attempting to comment anonymously from the Holiday Inn in Lexington – not realizing, of course, that there are cookies on their laptops allowing me to see exactly who they are. Awww.
