More KACo Waste, Fraud & Abuse?

October 30th, 2009 · 8 Comments

You decide.

Yesterday you learned from an audit that the Kentucky Association of Counties wasted $3 million on hookers, strippers, booze and parties.

So on that note, I thought it’d be a good idea for you to get a good look at the $12 million palace KACo is currently putting together:

Absolutely mind-numbing, isn’t it?

Because we all know that building new office space for KACo – with our tax dollars – is absolutely, 100% necessary.

Any idea what the square footage of this thing is?
It would be interesting to know what they paid per square foot…just to see if it was competitive with similar structures…just to see if someone ‘did well’.

Why not? It’s KaCo…a little cynicism is in order

wonder if there is a pole inside (say from the cupola down to the director’s office)…

don’t forget…KACO chair mike foster hired bobby russell to investigate this mess…and russell was in beshear administration before leaving…why did he leave? was it something to do with Russell currently under investigation by the state ethics commission?

    –from news article–
Foster said he didn’t know about the ethics inquiry.

He said he hired Russell, who will be paid $225 an hour, on the recommendation of several officials and didn’t expect that an inquiry into hiring procedures would affect the management review.

“I would have to say that I have complete confidence in his ability,” Foster said.

The subpoena, obtained by the Herald-Leader through an Open Records request, also asks for documents related to Russell’s hiring of former Circuit Judge William W. Trude, Jr. in the cabinet’s legal office, as well as the promotion of staff attorney Jesse Rowe.

The Louisville Courier-Journal first reported in April that those personnel moves were voided because Russell and the personnel panel assigned to screen applicants didn’t follow the proper procedures.
    –end of article–

they also requested copies of all grievances against russell since he started at transporation cabinet while under beshear…

should this guy be conducting an “ethics” investigation at $225 an hour? and word is that he has applied for the director’s job himself…is that ethical?

Looks like it could easily be converted into a church to me if it’s sold. All they have to do is slap a cross on top of the coppola, convert the stripper poles into decorative columns, and convert Champagne Room into a bible study lounge.

What the hell did they need with that much space anyway? Were the going to start boarding wayward escorts in all of those rooms?

For real? How the hell does Bob Arnold sleep at night?

It’s really easy to sleep after you spend a few thousand dollars on dinner, booze and hookers.

Is that building in Frankfort? Cause, if so, I thought it *was* a church.
