First Lady Jane Beshear, our favorite, took part in the second annual Shop & Share Day. Kroger stores across the Commonwealth collected necessary items like canned foods, toilet paper and soap on Saturday, October 24th.

At the Kentucky Domestic Violence Association Headquarters in Frankfort yesterday, Mrs. Beshear announced that the drive raised more than $200,000 in items and funds.

The First Lady’s office was joined by the Kentucky Domestic Violence Association (KDVA), Kroger, Drug Court , the Kentucky Federation of Women’s Clubs, and the Commission on Women in organizing “Shop and Share Day” along with volunteers across the Commonwealth who donated their time to assist at Kroger stores.

Shelters benefitting from this drive include Safe Harbor, Barren River Area Safe Space, SpringHaven, LKLP Safe House, Sanctuary, Bluegrass Domestic Violence Program, The Center for Women and Families, Women’s Crisis Center, D.O.V.E.S., Family Life Abuse Center , Women’s Crisis Center, OASIS, Merryman House, Big Sandy Family Abuse Center and Bethany House Abuse Shelter.
