Rand Paul swings into Mica’s “bar” to boost pole numbers. What better way to capitalize on the teabagging craze than for Rand Paul to take his White Male Liberty Party to Mica Sim’s new faux bar for a fundraiser? Joe has the hilarious details. PEE ALERT. [Barefoot & Progressive]
Despite tons of spin from the Mongiardo camp the past few days, news surfaced that Jack Conway only loaned his campaign $125,000. [AP via H-L]
Today at 10:00 A.M. Rep. John Yarmuth will be one of the Democratic House members calling out the party of “no” in Washington. Tune in to hear Yarmuth, et al to attack Republicans for stalling on a health care plan. [Press Release]

Like clockwork, Republicans propose constitutional amendments to legalize casino gambling in Kentucky. This is going to sink a lot of Democrats in 2010. [Bluegrass Politics]
Those amendments offered by Damon Thayer and David Williams are receiving a cold reception from the horsey set. [Tony McVeigh]
HAHAHA. Kim Geveden and Daniel Mongiardo just won’t let the biggest scandal in the U.S. Senate race die. I still call on Lt. Dan to prove to the Commonwealth that he was, indeed, in Chicago at the time of that UK press conference. This whole mess is hilarious and it’s sinking the pro-coal rich guy faster than Jim Gooch could praise Bill Caylor after he allegedly beat his wife. And Joe Arnold continues to play patsy in this game of Kim-Whines-Every-Day-Because-Whatever. [Joe Arnold]
Kentucky ranks first in child abuse and neglect deaths. Terrible statistics we could do without. [H-L]
We agree with Jack Conway. Lt. Dan owes the governor an apology. And the governor needs to stop lying. [WKYT]

Jack was smart to loan himself the money. The space that it created between his and Mongiardo’s Q3 funds certainly helped in terms of media.

“Mitch & Jim Don’t Save the Children”
On KY’s “leaders” and the state as the leader in child abuse and neglect: It is not surprising that McConnell and Bunning get such low marks for the care and protection of our kids. Don’t give us any shiz about Jimbo being “a family man” and the number of children he has. What about his interest in kids outside his tribe? His spokesperson said nada. As for Mitch, we all know his non-active stance on most all social issues. He votes almost exclusively on how much help he can give big lobbyists and corporations. Most of the latter could care less about our youth.

i never cease to be amazed at the lethargy, dull-mindedness, inattention and plain old disinterest most kentuckians have about child abuse.
and this goes double for most in the legislature. a group of dems and repubs could make a lasting, meaningful impact on this insane assault on the helpless if they had the guts and energy to do so. but, no, not this year, not last year and probably not in the future.
when the public is to self-absorbed and politicians ignore child abuse, kentucky can’t get any lower than it is today. i know these studies are two years old, but people, nothing is changing.
