The link above to CBS News on sexual orientation being included in hate crimes legislation was pretty impressive journalism.
I hadn’t considered that before- but once they consent to religious protection, they really have compromised their stand against excluding protections to gay.

The $250 bribe to social security recipients is in no uncertain terms an admission that the government’s way of figuring COLA based on core inflation is flawed, and has been shortchanging recipients for decades.
Nobody noticed until now, because there has always been inflation to some degree and increases, however insufficient, have come.
I guess offering a bribe to placate the SS recipients is easier and takes less courage than admitting that the COLA they’ve been getting all along, was engineered to be less than the actual costs of living increases in the real world.
