The Legislative Ethics Commission is investigating state Senate Democratic Leader Ed Worley’s deal to build a state courthouse annex that he plans to rent for $409,356 a year.
-SNIP-
State ethics law prohibits legislators and their spouses from leasing real estate to state agencies. Violations are a Class D felony. However, Worley’s arrangement may sidestep that. He will own the courthouse annex, but his lease is with the county, and the county is arranging a lease deal with the AOC. So the rent money will pass through the county and not come directly from a state agency.
John Cheves is right. Smell tests are necessary and some people just won’t ever think to, you know, test things.

I hope this pisses off every damn voter is the now corrupt Ed Worleys district.
But what will happen is every voter in Ed Worleys district will say vote your legislator out of office but we’ll keep ours. He is such a good guy even though he is fucking the taxpayers right up the ass again. All he has left to do it break it off and leave it there.
How can these friggin’ legislators sleep at night. If this doesn’t add the last straw to the pile and break the camels back, nothing ever will.
Vote every and I mean EVERY legislator/incumbent out of office.

I just read the story. Oh My God. It reads like Ed Worley has his own little kingdom in Richmond and he has all his minions under his control. He gets the money from the STATE taxpayers, his fellow legislators allow him to direct it to Richmond.
Since he owns the the locally elected officials, he gives them the money and they route is back to him. so he can get rich. Then the locally elected officials can say “Look what we have done for EKU, Richmond, and Madison County and then they get re-elected.
You would think a university town would be smarter than most cities in one of the dumbest states in America. But Nooooooooooo. Son of a bitch, this shit makes me so damn sick to my stomach. Could the citizens be partying as much as the students and not seeing what is happening in front of their eyes?
When are people going to wake up.
If Ed Worley was such an honest official making millions off the state taxpayers, why doesn’t he give up his low paying elected office?
Could it be because the local elected officials will stop kicking out the low bidders cause they write $1,000,000.01 but word it out as One million dollars and no cents.

Politicans dont care about any Smell test at all. And unfortunately voters dont seem to care either. Otherwise many of these people like Worley and Jim King would never get as far as they do.
The Ron Mazzolis and Jim Waynes of the world are few and far between.

I think I predicted this one when that contest was going on.
Jim Wayne? Egad. I wouldn’t vote for him for street sweeper.

this might not sound very good..cause its going to be a self-plug here. But if people actually feel this way about voting out these people that get re-elected all the time..and this is BOTH parties..get behind people like me…i am busting my ass to get rid of Ed’s buddy Larry Clark here in louisville..and it takes money…which buys signs..postage which is huge…literature to pass out to voters..things like that..whether you live in the 46th District or not..a vote in this state is a vote in this state when it comes to the KY state house..and i wont lie….i need support in the way of contributions…$50 goes a long way..trust me!..Good luck to everyone out there who shares this fight!!

@Conservative — you may not care for Wayne’s politics — and I’d be surprised if you did — but are you saying he’s corrupt, too? Because that’s the point of the comment you responded to.

No, I don’t think Wayne’s corrupt, I have no evidence of that. But I sat in a room and heard him speak several years ago and wanted to pull a Joe Wilson on him several times. ;-0
