Wake up, really. It’s time for you to recognize that this is not based in reality:
Willihnganz made reference to instances of “betrayal” against the university community, including the alleged actions of former Education Dean Robert Felner, who was indicated last fall on federal fraud charges. Felner has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
“I will not let what happened before happen again,” said Willihnganz, who repeated throughout her speech the need for the university to face challenges head on to achieve its goals.
“We must not cower in the hall, wringing our hands and wailing with despair that it is too hard, there is too much risk, there’s no money,” she said.
The reality is you allowed the Robert Felner Scandal [™] to occur. You and your boss, Jim Ramsey, and you have half-assed the aftermath for a year. You allowed this to happen. You knew what was going on. You knew the problems were deep and real.
The world of higher ed will start taking you seriously when the two of you stop with the “anonymous crap” and actually begin to right the wrongs at the University of Louisville. Until the two of you do just that, we will continue to advocate for you to be grilled before various State House and Senate committees. And we’ll push legislation that forces you to be responsible if you’re unable to do so on your own.
It’s also cute of you to spend more than $100,000 on a deceptive UofL-is-better-than-UK advertising campaign – in Lexington – while you force commuter students to spend hundreds of dollars per year on a meal program they don’t want, don’t need and can’t afford.
WAKE UP.

And, yea and verily, did James of Ramsey send forth Shirley of Willinfuckinhowzit to battle the forces of evil arrayed against the sainted crimson bird. Beowulf, Shirley? REALLY? She’ll be there all week, folks. Try the veal. Tip your waitresses.

“No Cowering–To the Ramparts We Go?
Fitting that Shirl spoke before her doubting minions of Beowulf, a tale of trying to save an empire from crumbling. In the end, Beowulf is fatally wounded. Wonder if this has any possible connection to what is transpiring at UofL. We could always bury the remains under those glitzy, silly new Card signs, in blue no less, now desecrating Lexington highways. What next? Pitino in red & black drag slaying a whimpering Wildcat?

“A Rebuttal to SW, with Passion and Despair”
“Betrayal.” YOU did not betray us? “I will not let what happened before happen again.” YOU had YOUR chances and failed miserably. Even after repeated efforts by faculty (Jim’s now sanctified “anonymous crappers”) who told YOU what was going on–what was killing their spirit, their livelihood, their sense of dignity, and forcing three dozen or so esteemed colleagues to move out of the Belknap pit. Most of us were shaking our heads in bewilderment and, yes, DESPAIR. Who gave a bare wink and nod to their vote of no-confidence? YOU. Then came YOUR show carnival by a “mediating” firm to protect Bobby’s ass. Wonder who hid that crew’s evidence against his cruel rule? YOU? Later, a very affirmative note to the culprit in his death throes at UofL, just as the grant shenanigans were coming to light. YOU put us and the University at RISK. Don’ even ask for any more MONEY. Give us all a freakin’ break. Yes, YOU.

from article By Nancy C. Rodriguez •• September 16, 2009…”The speech, delivered at the School of Music’s Comstock Hall, was attended by several hundred faculty members, staff, students and trustees”…….
I was there & would guess 300 people in attendance– mostly the faculty in procession & the stage people. I wish somebody would define “several”–nice word that means different things to different people…

Novena I agree with your assessment. From experiences outside of School of Education I concluded long before Felner came to light that SW does not have what it takes to be a real leader…
Having said that, I must say that SW sure can “talk the talk”….
SW did outline many successes across the university for research gains–damn good!!!
SW was impressive to anybody who does not know (or want to know) what really goes on at O of L…
That includes a lot of people…

“The PR University”
le gardien, UofL tries hard to be the premier urban PR university, if not the finest metropolitan research mecca. Paper research specimens do sometimes sound good to those, as you say, who do not know what really goes on. I’m not necessarily opposed to grants–only those that lead nowhere and just make up padding for a mindless professors’ vitae. (Unfortunately, there are a lot of them.) It often allows them to get out of teaching, which is another tragedy in the modern university (though that kind of prof is usually not a good teacher in any case). So one wonders what is his/her use. I sense that you are of the “old school.” In many ways, there was more wisdom, less PR and B.S., in that form of collegiate life. Keep at it, and retain that cherished wisdom.

Shirley Whillinganz is the biggest coward UofL ever saw. Her re-write of history is disgraceful.

“Living History at Belknap”
History can teach us never to forget our grievances, especially against those who hold power over us and used it against us. As SW says, those many dastardly “mistakes” (a generous word) must never happen again. Yes, SW, you cannot afford even a whisk of their re-occurrence on your watch. If such circumstance does arise, your regime will be dead in fact (as it is spiritually dead right now).

I became professor to be a teacher; when I received a grant that allocated 1/3 time of research to the sponser, I was “rewarded” by being taken out of the classroom. Ironic is it not???
Of course ‘they’ took out the overhead…
Yes research is important; and many researchers are unsuited to be in the classroom & many teachers are not good at research…

I can tell you for a frigging fact that IT is still going on – IT being those sins of complicity in overrunning faculty rights. Another administrator will soon be caught out … and Shirl and JR are right in the middle of it.
Hey, tell us why you, Madam Provost, academic head, had a role in deciding what happened to the coach? Athletics + academia … somehow I am not making the connection there. Help me, Novena.
11 marie // Sep 21, 2009 at 3:22 am
Good for you, Shirley.
Never again will you stand with the ‘star’ dean or
coach, however obviously in the wrong they may be, never again will you be blinded by the trappings of all that star power. Just as the word of someone with more authority in no way makes it an absolute truth.
Instead you’ll read that letter, realize you need to know what people are doing “in your name,” if you do care.
You have administrators that are sadistic bullies.
You should be aware of this and you should care.

“Do We Teach Here?”
Flag, as your know, at UofL athletics=academics. Thus the reason why Shirl had some major input into athletic decisions. Wonder if Rick, Jurich, etc., do the academics=athletics equation on some issues.
Le gardien has been around a long time; perhaps he can help with this as well.

When and where is Bobby’s trial?
14 jake // Sep 25, 2009 at 2:33 pm
I’ve said this about 18,000 to the same individuals: December.
15 Concerned // Sep 25, 2009 at 3:08 pm
Marie, you are so right. There is another RF, who is following his exact path and getting away with it. Big time problem for UofL in the form of CPM.

Hi All,
It’s been a while….hope you’re all well. I’ve been awaiting a Google Alert regarding Blobby but haven’t gotten one in quite some time. So, thought I’d stop in to see if there was any update on the trial….and there was!! Guess I missed the 18,000 times Jake answered it. December….sweet….Merry Christmas, Blobbo!!! I do hope you’ve mind-fucked yourself into thinking you’ll slither out of this one. It’ll make the outcome that much better for the rest of us….if that’s even possible.
Hey, Jake, time for a video expansion at pageone??? Maybe a camera hidden in a pair of eyeglasses with the trial streamed live on your site?? Your advertising rates would go through the roof as tens of thousands of us jam your site to watch JakeTV. Thievery, deceit, despicable characters, hot blondes, all kinds of sex….how can you lose???? Come onnnn….it’ll be a hoot!!!
17 jake // Sep 26, 2009 at 11:17 am
Oh, I’ll be there live blogging everything and providing video if the court will allow it.
18 ed // Sep 26, 2009 at 1:05 pm
HAHA….Great!! I knew it would be a hoot. And I imagine it’ll be a very satisfying experience for you. A culimination of all you’ve done…which was no small reporting feat. I hope you enjoy that part!!
Don’t want to push you over some edge with this question, but is there an actual date set in December? We’ll all have to make sure our schedules stay clear!
And we should probably revisit the whole marketing thing. How about some Blobby Head Dolls outside the courthouse? Maybe we’ll have the small head blobbing. Seems fitting. They’ll fly out of our hands. I think the absolute coup would be for all of us to walk away when this thing is over having made a tidy some on the piece of shit. Again….seems fitting.
19 jake // Sep 26, 2009 at 1:07 pm
You’re definitely not pushing me over the edge – takes a lot to do that! So no worries.
No date has been set that I’m aware of. Just the last I heard everything was pushed back til December. But you know how cases are – it could get delayed even further. But as details are available, I’ll share them on the site.
I’ll poke around a little on Monday for you folks to see if there are any new developments.

“Now, Heeeeeeeeeers, ed”
Good to see you back, ed. On the Blobby Head Doll idea, we could have a spirited contest for sayings on the front and back, e.g., “We Finally Got Felner,” “Psycho Dean,” “Bubba’s Feast,” etc. You coordinate this one, pal.
21 ed // Sep 27, 2009 at 5:24 pm
Hey, Novena,
Hope your semester is off to a good start. I’d have to fly to Louisville to coordinate the Blobby Head Dolls. Got a guest room? HAHAHA….kidding. I’ll just hope the court allows Jake to video this rodeo!!! I can’t wait!!
Still, I can’t shake the feeling there may not be a trial. I hope I’m wrong but some 11th hour deal for a reduced sentence seems possible, especially if lover boy turns on Bobby to save his own ass from a prolonged Bubba thumping.
22 Novena // Sep 27, 2009 at 7:03 pm
“Hurrah, Ed Rejoins the Anti-Bobby Watch”
ed, you could well be on to something. I’ve long thought that Bobby could go for a plea bargain if the Illinois guy rats him out. There are more counts against Psycho Dean, so lover boy has good reason to turn on him.
P.S. If you come to town for any trial, Tirn and I can take you to the Irish Rover for drinks to Bobby’s well-deserved demise.

Betrayal is the game of fame at UofL! It seems that Dr. Willinghantz is actually continuing the betrayal by making sure that those who suffered under Dean Felner and could legitimately sue the university but didn’t (most likely because they were suffering from PTSD) are ushered out without help, compensation or care.
Good one Shirl and Ram! Sleaze rules!
Someone should look up the stats on the time from arraignment to trial for cases like Felner’s. I’d guess 2 to 2 1/2 years. That would get the impatient hoards off of Jake’s back. I’m just hoping that justice will be served if and when this trial is held. Dr. Felner’s victims deserve to have validation of their pain and suffering from someone in authority! What better than the ‘people’ !! We’ll all feel that someone has recognized the pain and suffering and be vindicated–including the anonymous crappers.
Moral of the story–if you are going to complain about injustice at a Commonwealth of KY government facility–go PUBLIC–otherwise the concerns will not see the light of day AND what else can they do? Firing you would occur in the dark of night. Shed some light! That will drive them crazy. Perhaps it would be best to do so in between sports seasons???

“UofL Has No Heart & Soul”
SheWho, the UofL honchos never cease to amaze us. They are in the game mainly for their own lame survival and excessive compensation. What you point to is another self-protective measure to keep the cats from drawing more blood. UofL is a strangely uncaring envrionment, a mudhole within the vast U.S. university universe: a place with many resources, paltry academic results, and the heart and soul of Machiavelli.
25 Rant // Sep 28, 2009 at 10:01 am
I do not know to what She Who is referring. Could someone enlighten me?
