The overwhelming majority of repeat candidates do not win and there is no evidence that Boswell would be in better position this time. Also, this race will not be one of the DCCC priorities. It was all over Frankfort that he wanted to be Beshear's next running mate, but we all know where that went. He probably would have been a better choice than Mayor-Love-Me-or-Else because he would have garnered crucial support in the western part of the commonwealth. Thompson's foremost liability is that silly rug. His is the worst wig in Frankfort (and many are suspicious, if not unconvincing). Nevertheless, Thompson would be a good replacement for incumbent U.S. Rep. Brett Guthrie. Thompson has proven himself a competent, effective legislator.
