DSCC Responds to Trey Grayson’s Announcement

August 27th, 2009 · 12 Comments

Here’s what the DSCC’s communications director had to say about Trey Grayson’s official announcement:

“The people of Kentucky deserve an independent voice in the United States Senate – not a handpicked protégé of failed Republican leadership in Washington. If Trey Grayson can wrangle enough special interest money to overcome Rand Paul’s formidable grassroots fundraising, voters will know who in Washington he is beholden to. Democrats will target this seat no matter who the Republican nominee is.”

Let’s say it together: ruh ro.

The U.S. Senate race is on.

Hand picked? Most logical, yes. Who else do they have? Richie Farmer. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. He is the most corrupt uninvestigated elected official in Kentucky.

I like this line: “Democrats will target this seat no matter who the Republican nominee is.”

    No expectation of winning.

As a conservative (but not a repub)…this is exactly what I was saying when this fundraiser organized by the DC political class/incumbent repub Senators was announced.
Should Trey win, he’ll arrive in DC already owing favors to the entrenched gop machine.
Looks like Rand has Mitch concerned that a repub representative from Kentucky would be able to function independently from Mitch.

Synopsis; Mitch intends to own Trey, Mitch doesn’t think he can own Rand…so Mitch is doing what he can to get ‘his guy’ elected.

Mitch is a pile of dog dung. Looking out only for Mitch. He long ago quit caring about conservatives or conservative ideals or his fellow Republicans. I agree with Mitch on many things politically but have lots of issues with his need for control and his lack of loyalty and honor.

If Trey Grayson is the “hand-picked” candidate of Daddy Mitch, then what the he’ll is Jack Conway. He had the who’s who of democratic politics on stage at his announcement. Conway is the pick of the Ky democratic machine.

Beshear bought the Webb election with his cardboard checks and I say that knowing David Williams is absolutely and historically the worst thing ever to happen to Kentucky and it’s citizenry!

Beshear and party bashed Fletcher for handing out those cardboard checks all over Ky trying to buy the Governors mansion.

I hate both parties and their machines that why I with Mongiardo and Paul. At least no favors owed!!!!

No politician could make Kentucky ANY WORSE OFF THAN WE ALREADY ARE .

Time for a change. Vote for anybody but the establishment candidates

I like that the DSCC acknowledged that Rand Paul’s support was, by and large, grass roots.

This isn’t a fancy trick trying to get Republicans to choose the weaker primary candidate like when Rush had my mother switch parties and vote for Hillary in Indiana primary last year.

I’ve noticed a lot of people are genuinely interested in both parties picking their best candidate. Does anyone else think that’s really neat?
Sorta sucks for Mongiardo & Grayson, though.

Conways support is anything but grassroots.

I’d certainly classify it Treetop support

    Curt,
I too, like the fact that at least non-party-machine candidates seem to have a real chance in this primary season.
It was nice of the incumbent repub DC Senators to help illustrate that point…and to let us know through their efforts, just how much it concerns them.

Quit caring about conservative ideals or fellow Republicans? Funny, I thought he was supposed to care about all Kentuckians, though I’m sure we both agree that he hasn’t cared about us for a long long time.

Terri, my comment was a specific reference to a specific action — or series of actions and inactions — by McConnell.

Whatever Rand Paul was gonna raise, Mitch and Grayson just doubled it. I think the GOP race is wide open for sure now.

Even if you’re a Trey supporter you got to admit that this was really stupid move on his part. I mean what he should have done is keep going on and on talking about KY, running on his name ID, and talking about cute bunnies and fluffy kittens. But you cant’ make statements about “My race being for KY, with KY, and in KY” and immediately leave for a room full of Washington D.C insider hacks to raise cash to keep you going. Did these NRSC people learn nothing from the Crist vs. Rubio debacle they created now down in FL?
