OMG. Did you just see that bitter Rick Pitino press conference?
C-J had a live feed here, and it will probably be archived there.
“The FBI doesn’t care about basketball! The U.S. Attorney doesn’t care about basketball!”
“I’ve been blackmailed… These allegations were proven false… We need to get on with some really crucial things in life like the economy and basketball… if the newspapers write about it, read something else… I’m not the one who went to Fox 41… all the people who passed away today who couldn’t stand up… we’ll wait for the trial, I’m not going to continue to talk about it anymore… ”
“Whatever’s been written in New York … but my family and friends had to read this garbage… everything that’s been reported on a day that Ted Kennedy died is 100% a lie… all of this has been a lie, okay, a total fabrication of the truth, except what I told you… everything else is a lie… It’s a lie! It’s a 100% lie! You’ve known it’s a lie! You haven’t printed it but you know it’s a lie! You shouldn’t be reporting these lies! Do the investigative reporting and get the open records!”
“The FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s office don’t go after jay walkers!”
Seriously. Wow.
What is this hot mess?
The heat must be on.

Wow, seriously, WTbig-oF, Rick??? Attacking the press for playing released evidentiary videos and tapes, like that’s not in their very DNA? And what if the Louisville media did what Rick wanted? Uhhhh ESPN, Boston Globe, non-Louisville media EVERYWHERE???? Rick had to ignore PR advice today.

“We need to get on with some really crucial things in life like the economy and basketball…”
Bwah, ha, ha. Also, loved this…
“All I did was stand up…”
Yeah, we know what you did ‘standing up’.

“On the day Ted Kennedy died”. What does that have to do with anything? He’s lost his mind!

“some really crucial things in life like the economy and basketball”
BASKETBALL?????????
Okay I’ve had it with this guy’s ego. Could someone please let him know he’s a glorified gym teacher that shouldn’t even be allowed to have press conferences in the first place.

Free advice for Rick:
When you’re accused of raping a woman, don’t hold a press conference for the explicit purpose of flying off into an almost-out-of-control rage.
It’s the kind of thing that might, I don’t know, be used against you.
Just saying…

Since I don’t live in Louisville I did not know that WDRB was airing video of Sypher right now and probably would not have known for at least a few more hours or days if Pitino had not had a press conference. Smart move, Rick.

He must be losing it.
He made “a mistake” and Ramsey and Jurich told him everything would be ok.
They were wrong and he’s mad as hell. And 9/11, 9/11, Teddy Kennedy, Teddy Kennedy!!!! Not his fault, not his fault.

“Will the ‘Get Motivated’ Crowd Forgive Him?”
I think Rick just possibly blew his “Get Motivated” speech invitation and all the big, easy lucre it entails. Too much rage, negativity, pomposity, and godlike behavior, Rick. It won’t win you friends and influence people. Where was the power of positive thinking, coach? You need to cool down, put ice where it counts, and see if Laura Bush, Powell, Ziglar, Giuliani, Schuler, etc., will let you back in the fold. If not, there’s always “the most critical thing in the world” to attend to: balls and hoops.

Heads are shaking all over campus. I think Rick went solo on this one and some bigs are NOT happy. Wonder what Plate Glass thinks?

Pitino is so full of crap he stinks through the television set. Everybody lies but him. His family has to read all this stuff. He runs home to comfort his wife because “she needs it.” This guy doesn’t see himself as the victim (that would be bad enough). He sees himself as the hero.
Just remind me one more time. Who was it who waited until Procino closed after a UL party and then took it out of his pants to commit adultery (with another UL employee listening nearby) with a woman attorneys now say is so out of it she can’t understand what is happening to her. So, maybe like the genuinely mentally ill and children, she was legally unable to consent to having sex with Coach. That makes it statutory rape, doesn’t it, so we are back to her claims all over again?
Never mind. I’m going to follow Coach’s orders to boycott the television and newspaper coverage–unless Coach decides to say some more truth at some point.

“A Window into a New Life for Rick”
Rick claims he believes in transparency (like popes believe in the Book of Mormon). I’m sure that, if he resigns or is fired (a prospect as likely as Cheney supporting the eradication of Gitmo), he can always land a job with Mr. Plate Glass. Rick would be one helluva pitch man: “Mama mia, no impurities here–we’re polished and strong like my Cardinal teams used to be. Clean, too.”
16 Flag // Aug 27, 2009 at 9:40 am
Come, come now (no pun intended). We must give Pitino some credit for getting one thing almost right – although he didn’t quite say it – the U of Looneyville administrators should be included in the group that he claims are spouting lies on a daily basis. His problems are made worse because of the fact that the administrators have no credibility, so you can be sure if they are supporting him, there must be something wrong with his story. They have their noses far up Pitino’s ass simply because he generates $$$. Doesn’t matter whether deserves the benefit of the doubt or not. Jeez, he must feel the urge… I think if the Prez and chief academic officer were saddling up next to me, I’d be asking for some K-Y jelly. Distance, Rick, distance…

“Mama Mia, Such Satisfaction, Flag”
Not a very sensitive comment, my man. K-Y stands for Ky., arousal, intensity, slickness–all the ingredients for successful UofL basketball. Buy up, Rick.
