More Larry Kelley Shenanigans – Questions Linger

August 24th, 2009 · 5 Comments

How is it Beshear appointee Larry Kelley can be President of the Carlisle County Chamber of Commerce while, according to his voter registration and business records (Warning: PDF Link) for Wickliffe Rental Properties, listing his home address as being in Wickliffe – in Ballard County?

He lists his home address on his documentation for the Cunningham Community Center as being in Bardwell – in Carlisle County.

Does he live in both cities? Is he falsifying official records with the state?

This doesn’t pass the smell test.

Could it be that the Carlisle County Chamber of Commerce is a private membership organization? Might they possibly set their own rules for who can be a member and who can be an officer? Is it conceivable that under those rules, Kelly is completely eligible for the position he holds?

Could it be that it looks really bad for someone who is Vice-Chair of the Ballard County Democratic Party and Economic Development Director for Wickliffe, in BALLARD County, to be President of the CARLISLE County Chamber of Commerce, where he is supposed to compete with Ballard County.

    Conflict of interest, anyone?

To comment on another note, why can’t the Governor simply release applications for the WKCTC Board, or better yet, hold a press conference and defend this appointment to the people of Kentucky…what are Steve Beshear and Larry Kelley hiding?

He’s already defended the appointment via a spokescritter. Said something along the lines of “he’s served his time, yadda yadda.”

ABoyd, local chambers of commerce don’t “compete” with one another. Most rural counties know that it takes a regional approach these days to get anything done. And if he does business in Carlisle County, it doesn’t matter where he lives.
