National publication Inside Higher Ed has taken notice of the corrupt appointment by Governor Steve Beshear of Larry Kelley to the WKCTC board:
Kelley, however, is a convicted felon and pleaded guilty to three counts of credit card fraud in 1994. At the time, The Lexington Herald-Leader reported that Kelley, then a lawyer, had “obtained nearly $5,800 in cash and goods” by “fraudulently obtaining, receiving and using a credit card” from a dead woman, of whose estate he was the executor. Following this, Kelley resigned his post as Ballard County Attorney, and he was disbarred by the Kentucky Supreme Court. Currently, the Kentucky Bar Association does not have his name listed as a member.

We thank them for the shout-out!
It’s no longer an issue that Beshear’s office can try to white wash and ignore.

So–I had expect that Abramson would corrupt further everybody at the state level from Beshear on down but this one has to be Beshear’s alone. Does Beshear really thing his term thus far has been strong enough that he can hand out jobs to such obvious felons? He must be so full of himself as Governor that next we will find him visiting “friends” in Argentina.

It seems odd that the Kelly appointment by Beshear isn’t drawing more play in the press. Maybe we are becoming de-sensitized to the shenanigans surrounding our state’s lame attempt at higher education. Let’s see: credit fraud and disbarred lawyer. Perhaps he would qualify for one of those Felner-like NCLB federal grants if the WKCTC could use more dough (or share it with the UofL).

Larry Kelley keeps calling himself a fighter for Ballard County…the only thing Ballard County needs him to fight for is a rock to crawl under. He’s a con-artist guilty of identity theft. I hope WKCTC is taking extra precautions to protect the credit cards of those who paid their tuition that way.
