Really. Two? First, taking a check from Bill Caylor, who says he was actually writing a check to the Kentucky Democratic Party? We want to see a copy of the check as proof. And the mainstream media should demand the same before taking anyone’s word on the campaign finance front.
But also accepting a check from a corporation? It’s pretty easy to verify with a quick telephone call to a bank.
Webb’s campaign finance report also listed a $1,000 check on July 29 from Justice Real Estate, a corporation.
Owner Bill Justice said the check was “from my pocketbook and not any corporation.”
Sarah Jackson, executive director of the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance, said the registry would send a deficiency letter to any campaign that lists a corporation as a contributor.
“Reports can be amended,” she said.
Dale Emmons, a consultant for Webb’s campaign, said Webb will not accept any corporate campaign contributions.
“We accept Mr. Justice’s word that his check was from him and not the business,” Emmons said. “But if we are made aware that the report should be corrected, we will correct it.”

Come ON, people! Let’s take campaign finance seriously.
Steve Robertson is correct. Ignorance is no excuse.
We’re sure Republicans are doing equally ridiculous things when it comes to financial matters and their various campaigns. But come on. Take. It. Seriously.

Just a little coinkeedinky that Bill Justice is a big time horsey setter? Wanna bet he has also written a check to the slot parlor 527?
