Michael Moore can criticize Clinton for the failed health care reform attempt in 1993 if he wishes, but where is Moore now that Obama is a no show on the subject?
The huge difference between 1993 and 2009 is the business community today understands the real need for serious reform. That was not the case in 1993. What is lacking today is leadership on the issue.

Obama is a “no show”? Must be a delight standing on the other side of the Looking Glass.

Moore is finishing a film about capitalism and the economy. It’s supposed to be out in October. So, that’s where he is. You can read about it on his site (where you can also read about health care, *and* the wars in iraq and afghanistan): http://michaelmoore.com/
The business community understood the real need for serious reform in 1993, too, but they hated the Clinton plan and were a large player in killing it… well, NFIB, in particular, which is not an entirely representative organization. Today, while still expressing their understanding of the real need for serious reform, NFIB is fighting very much against any sort of a public option as they are ideologically opposed to “a government take over of health care!”
I agree that there has been a lack of leadership in this debate — Obama and his team should’ve been there earlier, and they should be making a much clearer argument.
