What gives with the Mongiardo Campaign? How did it obtain Bruce Lunsford’s Senate Campaign email database? Multiple people are receiving Mongiardo Campaign messaging but the only political list they ever signed up for was Bruce’s. To make matters worse, private email addresses we create just for the purposes of tracking list movement (addresses that we only used to sign up on Bruce’s list) have received Mongiardo’s emails, as well. Someone has a lot of explaining to do. And right away.
We’re now on Day 8 of Golden B.S. Awards. Only two days to go. Make your nominations for each category ASAP. [Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5, Day 6, Day 7 & Day 8]
Is it just me or is anyone else expecting Crit Luallen’s February 2010 report of her Louisville Metro Government audit to be an absolute kick in the nuts to Jerry Abramson? I fully expect, based on what we’ve heard in Frankfort and from various Abramson staffers, that Luallen will effectively be performing a castration in the form of a government audit. She needs to move to Louisville so she can run for mayor. Guess it’s time to start a rumor that she’s going to do just that, just because. You heard it here first! Crit Luallen is running for mayor of Louisville! [LEO Weekly]

This guy has got to be one of the best writers in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. So definitely read his take on the 129th Annual Fancy Farm shenanigans. He proves that Dea Riley and Gatewood Galpot flat-out lied about their conversations with Joe Sonka. And he details all kinds of hilarity that we’re happy to have missed: Rand Paul is too weird for Kentucky, Daniel Mongiardo is afraid to discuss actual issues haunting the state, Jerry Abramson getting in quick and ducking out before anyone noticed him. [Jonathan Meador]
Louisville got a new mayoral candidate. And he may inject a bit of interesting-ness and normality (abnormality?) into an otherwise uber-wealthy campaign. [The 'Ville Voice]
Jim Ramsey held a press conference to talk about flooding at the University of Louisville. But faculty there (not our friends, but dozens of others) tell us there was zero communication on-campus during the disaster that could have cost lives if more people were there. A UofL website merely said to seek higher ground – but 12 buildings were without power or had their electricity cut by physical plant staff. The internal warning system merely said that severe weather was possible. Imagine what might have happened if this were a major disaster. [C-J]
Kudos to Pamela Campbell of Old Louisville Coffeehouse for helping save the day! All Louisvillians should show up at her shop to give her some business and to show thanks for such caring behavior in a time of need. [More C-J & The Old Louisville Coffeehouse]
More than $2.4 billion in federal grants were awarded to 20 states for the development of 48 advanced battery plants. And Kentucky got zip, zero, zilch. [Page One]
Why did Gatewood Galpot’s running mate lie? See below:

“The UofL Paddles On”
The C-J reports about 30 people were rescued from an administrative office building. What about the rest of the campus’s students, staff and faculty? When did they hear from you, JR? And, yes, SW, “safety is the issue.” Astute communicative insight.

ODE TO GOOBER RAMSEY UPON A SUNLIT DAY…….Because the clouds did blare and whoop, We walked about in watery poop. But rest assured, my Cardi-nals, your foxguard trustees are MY best pals. No charge for the canoe rides, y’all.

I think that all candidates are working from the KDP database, or at least they can. I got the Mongiardo emails (including good old “Master Template”) and the Conway ones, and I don’t remember signing up for either.

You must remember this:
U of L didn’t see fit to close, when everyone else did, at least as a symbolic gesture, on 9/11.
We were expected to carry on as usual – who could concentrate on that day?
Communication is nonexistent there. Everybody is on their own.

Bruce – Not in a primary.
The KDP only shares its database in a general election.

I did receive an email from U of L Tuesday, August 4, 2009 9:39:28 AM that said simply:
** High Priority **
Belknap Campus is flooding. If you are not on campus, stay away. If you are on campus, seek high, dry ground.
I actually find U of L communication about crime in the area to be impressive, and given how this storm was an anomaly, I don’t fault them for their reaction. Some of the pics I snapped yesterday were at U of L:

Email & web couldn’t be accessed if you didn’t have power in your facility.
P.S. Was it stinky when you were out yesterday?

“Time Waster on New College Rankings”
Forbes just came out with its list of “Best Colleges in America.” However dubious these lists usually are, there are some interesting results. Note that the criterion is student satisfaction. The UofL did beat out UK (if barely), coming in at #497 to UK’s #545. Nothing to brag about since the total number of colleges evaluated was 600. Other state school finishes: Murray State (#421), Western KY (#434), Eastern KY (#519), & Northern KY (#552). Thus, as a group, KY state colleges fare poorly. Private colleges fared better, especially Berea & Centre. Berea is listed as the #1 best buy in the nation while Centre is #55. Centre is #14 in America for student satisfaction while Berea is #84 and Transylvania is #85. The KY state college system needs to take note.

Reckon Lunsford sold his list?

Nope.
Bruce’s committee was terminated on June 18.
And nothing is documented on any FEC report prior to that date regarding sale or rental of a database.
