I would like to say Mayor Jer for various matters, but he is very slippery and enjoys a large “Jerry does no wrong” protectorate, especially at the Courier-Journal.

I am hard-pressed to think of someone. Perhaps JCPS Superintendent Sheldon Berman, investigated for conflicts of interest over promoting business with firms he has an association with? Or investigated for ethics impropriety with respect to the Max Gilpin case?

Katie King…do i really need to list a reason? Just utilize the search function on this site and choose at random

Her wannabe celebutard lifestyle will finally catch up with her and culminate in a cocaine driven fist fight with Perez Hilton

    “Berman Tipping Over Legal Logs?”

Magruder is on point. Another vote here for Shelly Berman, though he could escape on narrow legalisms. The ethical question is another matter; there he seems guilty beyond doubt.

  • 4 jake // Jul 30, 2009 at 1:33 pm

    Politician.

    Must be a politician.

Not a judge, not a school employee.

  • 5 tbrauch // Jul 30, 2009 at 1:53 pm

Are we saying people who are elected in a popular election? So Cathy “Arggghhh” Miller is out (and she’s already being investigated, anyway) since she’s a public official but not elected.

What about Larry Hujo and his closed door JCPS evaluation of Berman? He’s elected but I’m not sure if he’d qualify as a politician.

  • 6 John Blickenstaff // Jul 30, 2009 at 1:54 pm

Judges that are elected should count as politicians, in my humble opinion.

  • 7 ThisManIsNotMyFather // Jul 30, 2009 at 1:58 pm

    I agree with John.

From the bible of knowledge known as Wikipedia a politician is:
A person who is active in party politics….
some law enforcement officers, such as sheriffs, and many judges who are elected or appointed because of their political views or popularity.

  • 8 Renn // Jul 30, 2009 at 2:10 pm

Yeah, Katie King is a politician. She is an elected official. Heck, I voted for her. If Jake doesn’t count King, then the whole category is a sham.

  • 9 Owensboro R // Jul 30, 2009 at 2:23 pm

Whoever John Cheves, Ryan Alessi, or Linda Blackburn write about the most this year…

In absence of that J-E, David Jenkins has got to be on the hot seat. Luckily though if it’s a criminal indicment, he’s got good insurance to defend him!

  • 10 Steve Magruder (I, not D or R) // Jul 30, 2009 at 2:38 pm

In my estimation, a major bureaucratic leader appointed by politicians (school board members) is a politician.

  • 11 I am just saying... // Jul 30, 2009 at 2:44 pm

Does staff of an elected politician count?

    What about appointed people?

  • 12 bigdaddy // Jul 30, 2009 at 2:55 pm

I think it will be Dr Dan

  • 13 jake // Jul 30, 2009 at 2:58 pm

Politicians only. Councilcritters, legislative members, governors, yadda yadda.

Not judges. Not school employees. Not school board members.

And, Renn, suck me. I think Katie’s embarrassing as all get out so give me a fucking break with the “sham” bullshit.

Magruder: You’ll just have to wait for when the juicer categories come along.

The judicial and appointee categories come later.

  • 14 jake // Jul 30, 2009 at 2:59 pm

P.S. My nomination is for Larry Clark.

Don’t ask why, but feel free to speculate.

Aaaaand… I fully expect an indictment of Steve Henry within 12 months. But I guess that’s old news and doesn’t count.

  • 15 E // Jul 30, 2009 at 3:28 pm

Clay Foreman of J-town Mayor fame.

Jtown was run like Chicago during the first generation of Dailey’s.
So many basic practices of checks and balances were not implemented…it’s only a matter of time before someone decides to kill off all remnants of the J-town good ol boy network that ran that town for the last three decades. What better way than an indictment/investigation?

  • 16 Mark H (Not Hebert) // Jul 30, 2009 at 4:00 pm

Since he must have a team of defense lawyers on retainer, my vote goes to:

    Former Lt. Gov. Steve Henry

    - I would argue that this guy has been investigated by more state and federal agencies for various election and medical fraud charges than anyone else currently dabbling in the political fray. At some point I hope someone will pin this guy down.

I wonder why you never see anyone jumping up in Frankfort to defend what a good guy he really is?

  • 17 Mark H (Not Hebert) // Jul 30, 2009 at 4:00 pm

Sorry Jake. I didn’t see your earlier comment

  • 18 Joe Sonka // Jul 30, 2009 at 4:08 pm

    Lexington Mayor Jim Newberry

    Ruh-ro! ;)

  • 19 briansmith // Jul 30, 2009 at 4:29 pm

Ed Whitfield, for his financial connections with convicted terrorist and Hezbollah apologist Abdulrahman Alamoudi.
When you google them, you’ll find among other things articles in Hillbilly Report and Ditch Mitch. Jim Pence stole this story from the Heather Ryan campaign and tried to pass it off as his own research. So if there is to be a category for most plagatastic blogger, I nominate Jim Pence.

  • 20 AB // Jul 30, 2009 at 5:30 pm

I sure would like to nominate Abramson since I suspect much will be worthy of investigation once he is gone, but that will be more than 12 months from now. Thus, I go with Steve Henry on the principle that if the past is indeed a predictor of future behavior, somebody somewhere is going to go after him again within the next 12 months.

Jim Bunning should be a dark horse contender – not for his ethics which I expect are spotless – but I would think a medical researcher might want to investigate how a human can survive with such a major disconnect between brain and mouth.

  • 21 Um... // Jul 30, 2009 at 6:05 pm

Bunning? Spotless? Miss that story about him laundering money through his charity, AB?

Henry or Clay Foreman. For reasons listed above.

  • 22 themanchesters // Jul 30, 2009 at 6:37 pm

Gotta be Lt. Gov. Dr. Dan Monhomophobia with all the errors and discrepancies you’ve identified in the campaign finance reports something’s gotta stick.

  • 23 voter // Jul 30, 2009 at 6:58 pm

Without a doubt, Mayor Happy Pants gets the Trophy here!…..It’s just a matter of time till he gets slapped with the RICO act, along with Cordish. Once he’s gone the amount of shit that’ll float up will be unbeliveable.

  • 24 Steve Magruder (I, not D or R) // Jul 30, 2009 at 7:08 pm

“Once he’s gone the amount of shit that’ll float up will be unbeliveable.”

It will be like the Ohio River in the 1970s. :)

  • 25 Steve Magruder (I, not D or R) // Jul 30, 2009 at 7:10 pm

Since I can’t pick Berman for this one, Henry would have to be the best choice for this. Heck, he’s investigated every other week for something, so I think the odds are favorable. :)

  • 26 le gardien de but // Jul 30, 2009 at 8:35 pm

    How about a long shot–Tom Owen….
He’s too squeaky clean to be believed. But a skelton may come crashing out of his closet this year…
    As I said a long shot…

  • 27 Freedom100 // Jul 30, 2009 at 8:47 pm

I vote for Mayor Jer although it may take longer than one year due to his group of supporters at any cost. He is far more corrupt than Blago from Chicago given the Cordish deal, the double dealing, the housing horror and metro animal services-where is the money and has anyone seen Meloche? I suspect that once he is gone much will surface and if the Federal folks take a good look, they will find skeletons galore.

  • 28 Larry West // Jul 30, 2009 at 9:02 pm

Y’all aren’t following Jake’s admonition to “keep it funny.” The obvious answer would be Doug Hawkins for his lame “identity theft” by attempting to impersonate someone with a tan. :-)

(If I was being serious, I would vote for Madonna Flood for her conflict of interests regarding her convict-husband being on the public dole when he legally could not have been. If Ms. Flood did not abstain in voting for any budget involving giving her husband money, then she should be charged.)

  • 29 Curt Morrison // Jul 30, 2009 at 9:05 pm

    No contest: Senator Mitchell McConnell.

It’s 1/8 of the way into Obama’s first term and this nut is still acting like the GOP has a majority in the Senate? Voting against Sotomayor…is he serious? His ignorance of his own irrelevance will bring down his legacy in his last lap around the track. Surely one of his clients, I mean constituents, are embarrassed enough to throw him under the bus?

  • 30 Anon E Mouse // Jul 30, 2009 at 10:36 pm

I’m going for Steve Henry MD/DB. I just hope that none of the people investigating him are cyclists.

  • 31 Conservative // Jul 30, 2009 at 11:41 pm

I nominate Ed Worley. The category says “investigated or indicted” and I suspect some folks will be looking into that deal he and Madison County Judge Mansuper (you know, Kent Clark) have for the AOC office space lease.

  • 32 Curt Morrison // Jul 31, 2009 at 1:08 am

I have a funny feeling Jake is going to use these nominations as a “to-do list” for the coming months. :P

  • 33 Barbara Haines // Aug 1, 2009 at 10:21 am

This is a shoe-in! The despicable head of Metro Animal Control: Giles Meloche DVM, MBA, BFD. It’s a shoe-in because he’s already on Kelly Downard’s radar for an investigation (brewing for months based on dozens of citizen complaints about illegal searches & seizures, overcharging, unwarranted confiscation and/or euthanization of their pets, the list is endless!).

Adding to this are the multiple complaints of current and former employees who allege everything from financial extortion to sexual harassment (multiple counts) and Meloche’s policies fostering rampant outbreaks of disease in the shelter.

The disease conditions have also led to many complaints from people who adopted or reclaimed animals which became severely ill (or died). Makes you wonder how many box tops Meloche needed to send in to get that Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree?

And, while Jerry hired him because of his credentials, the fact that Meloche also boasts an MBA leads to much head-scratching when you learn that he dismally FAILED his 2007 Metro audit (which earned him a 10% pay raise from the Jerrmeister). However, Downard’s investigation is also going to focus on the results of a current audit which show that not only didn’t Meloche clean up the problems from several years ago, they have gotten worse! Records are missing, ANIMALS are missing and, apparently, money is missing too. Add to that Meloche having entered into a partnership agreement with a private company which involves a mutual diddling of the books (not to mention allegations of another type of diddling), and you’re left wondering just how much of a pay raise Jerry will lavish on him this year!

The poster boy for the Dem’s version of Nanny Government, Meloche believes that HE is the one to decide whether or not you should own an animal. And, in a 2008 deposition where he channeled Jerry Abramson’s “too poor & too black” mindset, Meloche actually declared that poor people should not not allowed to own pets.

Added to that, he has an obsessive reaction to any animal with intact genetalia, the mere thought of which can send him into a warrant-forging, jack-boot invasion of your home to confiscate said animal and forcibly remove its procreative parts. Given his own penchant for sexual predations, one’s mind is left spinning at the psychological implications of that behavior!

When it comes to poo, Meloche has caused and spread so much of it, it’s only fitting (in so many ways!) that he recive an award for all that he has accomplished.

Jerry Abramson–for the Cordish corruption, the Housing fiasco, and the corruption/extortion under color of law he is winking at over at LMAS. He is currently trying to whitewash the mess his Animal Control Director is making–which quite possibly includes all kinds of embezzlement (when one doesn’t keep records of financial dealings, it’s a little hard to tell). There are hundreds of thousands of dollars unaccounted for in the dealings between AAA and LMAS–which Jerry’s spinners will try to say bring money in to the city and therefore do not require accountability. Hold on there Jer–that is city property that is being sold, and the city covers all expenses for that property, and then gets little to none of the sale price? That’s bringing money in? And what about all the animals that are being brought in from surrounding counties, vetted at LMAS, and sold at AAA–with NONE of the sale price then returning to LMAS because the animals didn’t originate there? Um, I think city resources are being used here, and I think accountability is required. But we wouldn’t expect Mayor POO to understand that.

  • 35 chelsea84 // Aug 4, 2009 at 3:54 pm

Mayor Jerry – for everything said above (and not said above – because we know there are OTHER skeletons out there that will come out once he’s GONE!!).

  • 36 daking // Aug 6, 2009 at 8:38 pm

Larry Clark? You’ve got to be kidding, right? Why would you even say that?

  • 37 jake // Aug 6, 2009 at 9:08 pm

Four words: United Electric & Museum Plaza.
