KDP Has a New Hire: Liz Fossett

July 27th, 2009 · 7 Comments

The Kentucky Democratic Party has hired a new communications staffer: Liz Fossett. She’ll hopefully serve as interim director until a new one is hired to replace Thom Karmik (remember him? heh) but will primarily focus on new media and the internets.

Liz, from northern Kentucky (Covington), worked on Ken Lucas’ race in 2006, was behind the Draft Crit group in late 2007/early 2008 and worked on Bruce Lunsford’s last two campaigns. She’s also recent graduate from Georgetown University.

Pretty sure this is a good move because Liz knows better than to piss off and/or attack the entire Commonwealth.

Maybe she’ll be able to rebuild the bridge that Jennifer Moore, Thom Karmik, Jeremy Horton and all of Beshear’s office burned to the ground?

Looking forward to working with her.

I’d like to nominate Tracey Turner Thurman as the permanent hire. Former Frankfort City Commissioner, Former Executive director of the Kentucky Propane association and former Deputy Commissioner in the KYTC.

She’s a great communicator and writer.

Wasn’t she a non-merit in the Fletcher administration?

    Either:

    1.) She’s not a Democrat, or
2.) She had no business working as a non-merit in the Fletcher administration

She is a Democrat, She also worked for Governor Patton. She did work for Fletcher but so did 61% of the non-merits Fletcher hired. She also was about the only one not indicted in KYTC under Fletcher.

I’m sure you would not turn down the opportunity to serve the people of the Commonwealth.

She is a great person, articulate and has a good heart. She is the type of person the Democratic Party needs.

Yeeeeaaah… I’m gonna go ahead and say no.

It’s time for new blood. Someone young, energetic and capable. This good old boy system of recycling people is tired.

What’s been discussed in the comments here already tells me that she’s been recycled by the system of good old boys.

I believe that one of Fletcher’s biggest mistakes was keeping so many non-merits that weren’t loyal to him or to his initiatives. Of course Dan Druen and his zeal to move up the ladder didn’t help any, but Fletcher kept WAAAY too many of Patton’s people for someone who campaigned on changing the nature of Frankfort. He should have pink-slipped EVERY non-merit and filled those positions with people loyal to him and to his projects, initiatives and the conservative belief system.
