Really, Katherine Miller of Lexington, Kentucky? The election of racist Audra Shay as head of the Young Republicans is not a decisive or important factor? It’s okay to support someone who is outwardly racist and ridiculous when there were plenty of other, more capable, non-racist individuals you could have supported? [Indy Star]
Apparently it’s the norm of the far right to be racist and bigoted. Though, Kentucky’s Young Republicans allegedly supported other candidates. [Vancouver Sun]
What’s Shirley Willinhganz focused on? J. Bruce Miller, U.S. News & World Report and other rankings. Still. Rankings. That’s what she’s focused on during the most tumultuous period at the University of Louisville in recent decades. [Shirley's Op-Ed]
Maybe some day leaders of the Commonwealth will recognize that they actually have to do something to help eastern Kentucky? Maybe they’ll recognize we’ve gotta do something about corruption borne of poverty and drug addiction? [H-L]
Lurry Dayul echoes the gossip we’ve spread about Steve Beshear naming his new running mate on the weekend of July 20th. Make sure you read the last line of his Sunday column about KACo – consider this a pee alert. [Larry Dale Keeling]

Still wondering why people think the Mormon Church is vehemently anti-gay and borderline cultish/insane? [HuffPo]
Larry Hausman is serious about running against John Yarmuth. Unfortunately, he’s not likely to gain much traction because John Yarmuth has widespread support – Democratic and Republican. [Walter Underwood]
You mean Michael Moore’s SiCKO was right all along? Whodathunkit. [Raw Story/Bill Moyers]
Trey Grayson was named president of the Secretaries of State. Perfect timing for him to start spending extra time in Washington during his U.S. Senate campaign. [Roger Alford]
The fatter you are, the more ill you’ll become with swine flu. So America is gonna die of the poverty and the fat AND the pig flu. [Bloomberg]
Dear Leader Jr – Rand Paul – is outsourcing for volunteers. And the Paultards are going crazy on Joe Sonka. [Barefoot & Progressive]
Outrage: The University of Louisville only funds five (5) students for the VA’s Yellow Ribbon program for veterans. Five. The program funds expenses that exceed the highest public in-state undergrad tuition rate. Schools can give up to 50%, VA matches. [G.I. Bill]

Of course SW MUST play the ratings game. How UofL does in the ratings on some popular “scoreboard” is how SW & JR convince the BoT of their worth. Why should anybody be surprised at that? Higher rankings means better leadership eh…

“Rankings & Spankings”
SW should be mainly working to save the soul of the University as well as her own. Instead, she plays the dubious game of citing the US News & World Report rankings. They are widely known to be quite unreliable and largely a sham on the unknowing public. Be that as it may, a few questions for Shirl: (1) she says the UofL graduation rate is 16% higher than in 2002, but doesn’t reveal what the rate is; (2) nor does she mention that, overall, UofL is ranked in Tier 3 of national universities (Tier 4 is the darkest cellar). In recent years, UofL has teetered in both bottom tiers. Some of our counterparts in Tier 3 as we propel toward “pre-eminent” status? Azusa Pacific, Ball State, Montana State, North Dakota State, and South Carolina State. Hail to the Cards and SW.

As the state chairman of the Kentucky Young Republican Federation, I would like to clarify that the Kentucky YRs endorsed and supported the “YR Next Level” ticket. Audra Shay ran under the “Team Renewal” ticket. This endorsement was made in February and reaffirmed on June 13.
The state delegation cast its 18 votes for Rachel Hoff and the Next Level.

Shirley,
The attack (erroneous facts) that masks as a performance review, out there without warning of any kind (write-ups they’re called) line after cruel line where you in no way see your work life; an unexcused gap of three days to start the whole mess off which you provided a doctor’s note for (and were ‘thorough’ enough to make a copy).
And your career is toast…
That is truly “not having your facts straight.”
Where were you on that one, Shirley; it was brought to your attention: 2/11/08?
Ringing any bells?
(…but you are a ‘numbers’, not
a ‘people’ gal.)

“A Problem of Communication”
Marie, communications is SW’s supposed field of expertise. Yet it all seems academic by now. Brief tears when speaking before the CEHD faculty about Felner now appear croccodile-like. Did she ever come across Buber’s I-Thou? If so, it translated into “me-me.” So sad, so UofL-like.
