Ruh Ro for Jerry Abramson & Steve Beshear

July 10th, 2009 · 6 Comments

We told you about it earlier. But. Joe Gerth beat the Herald-Leader to the punch:

AFL-CIO opposes Abramson for lieutenant governor

The head of Kentucky’s largest labor federation has asked Gov. Steve Beshear not to consider Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson as his running mate if he seeks re-election in 2011.

“I am writing to express our strong opposition to Mayor Abramson for Lt. Governor,” Bill Londrigan, president of the Kentucky State AFL-CIO, said in a letter dated Thursday. “Mayor Abramson has established a long record of antipathy towards organized labor, both during his tenure as Mayor of Louisville as well as the merged Metro Government.”

Abramson has had a difficult relationship with labor unions during his three terms as mayor of the old City of Louisville and his two terms leading the merged Louisville Metro Government.

Londrigan said in an interview that Abramson has a long record of opposing unions and that some unionized metro government workers have gone years without contracts.

And he noted that Abramson vetoed union-friendly legislation tied to downtown arena construction and even crossed a picket line several years ago when the Aegon Tower was being built.

UPDATE:

It just gets worse.

Check this from the H-L:

“He’s a ‘Jerrycrat,’ more concerned about himself than working people,” Willman said. “He asked us to rescind our 2 percent raise and he’s closed a fire house. He wants to create jobs but doesn’t want to pay for them.”

-SNIP-

“I’d be excited to see him leave as mayor of Louisville but sorry for the state,” Harris said.

Oh snap.

OK union guys (yeah, I know, gals too). If you are going to fix it so that Abramson can’t be Lt. Gov. and so stays on as metro mayor you will owe Louisville a big chunck of money–like the big bucks the Feds are sending out to fight off the flu. You leave us open to the disease–you pay for the pain killer.

How stupid of the AFL-CIO, Londrigan, and Willman. Currently he is in a job where he can hurt the unions by his Executive decisions and they want to keep him there? Why not promote him to the lieutenant governor’s office where he has no power and his only job is to keep track of the governor’s breathing. Way to go AFL-CIO, do everything you can to keep him in a real position of power. You guys are dumbfucks.

I will do everything in my power to make sure Jim King does not become Mayor. If you think you get screwed by Abramson, wait till King is Mayor. At least you know where you stand with Abramson. Jim King will look at you, smile and lie to your face.

Look at you, smle, and lie to your face??? That’s Abramson’s routine–that plus his sad hound dog look when he thinks that would be useful. Check out the latest Corish scandal–a million dollar forgivable loan and no accountability, not even receipts. And Jerry says–”fine with me.” He doesn’t need elected office once he is out of Metro. Cordish and his other corporate buds will take good care of him just as he takes good care of them.

I’d consider King over Abramson (I’d consider anybody over Abramson) simply because at worst we would have a period when the old crooks get tossed out and the new crooks aren’t in place for a while. Maybe that is the best we can hope for. I nearly throw up everytime I see that ancient air-brushed photo of Abramson. Let’s put it in the land fill where it belongs.

King would make Abramson look like a puppy dog in comparison. We need outsiders not the same old insider idiots elected to office. Get rid of King, Abramson, and Tandy (more on that later).

You people are insane if you think anyone is as bad as Jerry Abramson.

I’d rather have Anne Northup as mayor (no worries – she’s not running).

Fuck… I’d rather have anyone. Jim King, David Tandy, Anne Northup, Peppy Martin.
