Jerry Abramson is for gun control and the homosexuals. Did you know that?
Apparently a story’s gonna be in this weekend’s Herald-Leader that talks all about it. FEAR!
Larry Clark says (to everyone who will listen, starting with today’s L&O meeting) that the AFL-CIO is sending a letter to Steve Besher about it all. Apparently organized labor doesn’t want to support Abramson because he’s not a homophobic gun nut. Imagine that.
Will this cause Steve Beshear to back off selecting Abramson as his #2?

why is it that organized labor decides to be so damn reactionary about once or twice every election cycle? Didn’t one of the locals send out an equally homophobic mailer in ’08? Is it the leadership of the locals that are this ridiculous or is KY’s rank-and-file just that crazy?

Maybe, just maybe, organized labor hates Jerry because the feeling is mutual. Didn’t Jerry just get smacked down (again) about bargaining with the FOP over take home vehicle charges? I don’t think anyone who has lived here during Jerry’s days as mayor would say he’s a friend to labor, would they?
And that’s a serious question. Teh gays & gun control may indeed be the AFL-CIO reasons, but from my perspective, Jerry’s treatment of unions/organizing labor is plenty enough to get labor riled up against him. Isn’t it?

sure, and I wouldn’t argue that Abramson has a good record with labor, but if you’ve got legitimate beef, why bring in a bunch of reactionary wedge issues into the fold to prove your point?

I think he’s the biggest hack on the planet, but I’m pretty sure his wife is a legit wife.
At least, I don’t think his wife would ever sit at Java Brewing Company guzzling a bottle of white wine, talking about all the fancy dresses she gets to wear to various mayoral events… if she was a faux wife. I think she’d be off doing something better with her time.

For being in such a minority the unions sure are good at throwing their weight around, and apparently have no reticence about telling the rest of us “how it’s gonna be…”
