We hear through the campaign finance homo money line that Jack Conway is set to release his campaign finance numbers any minute now.
Stay tuned.
UPDATE: Here’s the skinny…
Jack Conway raised $1.325 million. No other Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate in Kentucky history has raised this much cash in a single quarter.
“Kentuckians are ready for new leadership,” said Jack Conway. “Fundraising can be a very humbling process, especially in these difficult economic times. The fact that so many were so generous to our campaign in these early stages gives us incredible momentum. Our positive message about Kentucky’s future is clearly resonating and uniting the Democratic Party behind our candidacy. We must be united if we are going to take back Wendell Ford’s seat.”
Interesting tidbits:
- Conway more than tripled Dan Mongiardo’s first-quarter filing on March 30. In just 60 days, it appears Conway has more than doubled the cash-on-hand that Mongiardo is expected to have accumulated after six months.
- More than $175,000 in on-line contributions.
- Labor PAC support from the Teamsters and UFCW, reflecting Conway’s endorsement from the “Change to Win” labor coalition.
- 82% of contributions were from Kentucky. In a show of national viability for the top targeted seat in the country, Conway held major events in New York, Los Angeles, and Washington D.C.
- About 40 percent of contributions ($560,000) came from Conway’s electoral and financial base of Jefferson County, which represents more than 20 percent of the vote in a Democratic primary.
- More than $124,000 came from Eastern Kentucky, the home of Dan Mongiardo. With the support of House Speaker Greg Stumbo and a majority of the elected leadership in high turnout counties, Conway is well-positioned to compete and win in Eastern Kentucky.
- Over $125,000 came from Northern Kentucky events, which is the backyard of Senator Jim Bunning and potential candidate Trey Grayson.
We’re biased but are still impressed.

Conway only raised that money because he wasn’t doing it the manly way. Instead of going off in the woods to shoot things and bartering for goods to sell like Lt. Dan, Conway was running in some social circle where people actually care about progressive change and not sending our state further back into the stone age.
Wonder what Lt. Dan et al will have to say about this?

great news for jack, but this must make everyone feel really bad for those three or four sad Mongiardo fans.
maybe Dan could ban gay marriage a second time?

Taylor, I suspect that Dr. Dan’s entourage is trying to figure out how to doctor his numbers so that his second-quarter contributions might look remotely competitive.
The notion of having someone as smart, articulate and polished as Jack Conway representing Kentucky in the U.S. Senate is increasingly exciting.
Progressives unite for Jack!

I wonder if Lt. Dan is on the hunt for Osama bin Laden right now? If he can’t pull his weight on the fundraising circuit, it might be his only chance…

Maybe Dan’s holed up somewhere nesting over a lump of coal, desperately trying to compact it unto a giant diamond under the wait of his manly posterior?

Great showing for a first fundraising report for our Attorney General! Hopefully this will start to translate into some good poll numbers when the next public poll is released.

as republican, going to simply hold my nose and vote for conway if he’s in the general against trey grayson. grayson uses people and then ditches them once he and his little boy club of followers decide they no longer need them. he seems to me to simply be an opportunist constantly angling for his next gig.

$1.325 Million…Damn!
I was thinking about buying a Senator for my own personal use. But it seems they are too expensive for my pay scale!

Maybe Mongardio will end up living in the parents basement again after this defeat.
