Who on earth sends a letter to dozens of people claiming to contain anthrax? Definitely no one sane. Love that the C-J only reports on the Republicans receiving it, though. [C-J]
Cause the Herald-Leader has the full-on story about some nutbag in Big Sandy sending the letters to dozens of offices. [H-L]
What happens when you don’t own the land? Kentucky Democrats are so far behind it’s ridiculous and embarrassing. Pretty sure you’ll want to read this article involving Appalachia. [Keep It Rural]
One of our most favorite people, Mason Rudd, died over the weekend. Sad. [C-J]
Just in case you need another reason not to use your social security number. [Washington Post]
The state school board is interviewing four people for the job of education commissioner. Catherine Cross Maple, Michael Sentance, Dennis Cheek and Terry Holliday. Never, ever a Kentuckian. Ever. [H-L]
Mitch McConnell sure is right about those damn foreigners and their scary health care, isn’t he? [Yglesias]
Who knew? The bid rigging trial will go on. A judge refused to dismiss it. Everyone is so surprised. [Bluegrass Politics]

DO we really need another New Englander with the example of Berman before us? And what did Dennis Cheek do before the Kaufmann Foundation? Only a year there is a potential sign he was rescued from problems with his last real job. Please do some checking, Jake.

All of these candidates need to fully disclose any dealings they have had with Sheldon Berman.

The C-J did quote Trey Pollard regarding Yarmuth’s bogus anthrax letter.

That quote wasn’t in the story when I prepared this round-up last night.

It’s an insult to Kentuckians to suggest that there is no one in this state capable of leading the Department of Education. The last thing we need is another damned Thomas Boysen coming into this state. There are plenty of qualified people in Kentucky who could do that job, who are familiar with our public education system and its shortcomings and successes, who already understand Kentucky and Kentuckians. I’m tired of the damned carpetbaggers coming in here, thinking they know what’s best for us.

Dennis Cheek has just moved from VP to Senior Fellow at Kaufmann–why? He also was with the Templeton Foundation and overlapped with one R. Felner in Rhode Island. ICheek was in the state department–RI is a VERY Small state. He is finishing a second Ph.D in theology at a British University. I think ALL candidates full resumes need to be posted and past activities checked.

Looks like some problems have been uncovered regarding Dennis Cheek:

Is he the author of “THE CREATIONIST AND NEO-DARWINIAN VIEWS CONCERNING THE ORIGIN OF THE ORDER PRIMATES…?”

Very, very, *very* disappointing that the BOE couldn’t have included our own folks…
