Hoo boy. All right for non-stop Michael Jackson “news” coverage. VOMIT.
Also, thanks to the Paultards for going batshit insane in the comments while accusing us of launching smear campaigns against poor, innocent Rand Paul, the guy you worship like he’s Jesus or Allah.
We’re giving away tickets to the Blues & Barbecue festival in Louisville this weekend. Enter to win. Lots of tickets to give away. [FREE STUFF!]
Everyone is so shocked to learn that Jefferson County Public Schools probably violated the law when it conducted Sheldon Berman’s review behind closed doors. It’s time for JCPS to provide documentation of every aspect of the meetings. And it’s time for the legislature to step in to prevent superintendent reviews from being held in secrecy. Would also be nice if superintendents and school board members weren’t granted special rights that all other state employees do not have. [C-J]
Jim Bunning still says he’s staying in the U.S. Senate race. It’ll be absolutely beautiful – more fun than Sarah Palin’s meltdown – if he stays in. [Bluegrass Politics]
Even that mean librul media in Warshington is being mean and librul and awful to poor Jim Bunning, who is running for U.S. Senate and will win, with lots of money, because he says so. [Roll Call]
He says he’ll have more cash on-hand than other GOP challengers. Hahaha. Really. [Jim Carroll]
Looks like the PGA is coming to Louisville in 2014. And, like clockwork, the PGA issued a non-denial. After the Sports Commission threatened us/demanded that we take down the memo. Guess who can suck it? [The 'Ville Voice & Non-Denial]
It’s cute how everyone is still filing lawsuits against placement of the ten commandments in courthouses. But what’s cuter is that the ACLU has never bothered to take a peek inside public schools throughout Kentucky where they’ll find paintings of Jesus and various hangings of the commandments and other christian documents – by themselves. [H-L]
The Senate is set to post its expenditure reports online, on the internets, it a searchable format. But not until 2011. Which is just as ridiculous as it sounds. [Sunlight Foundation]
It’s true. Everyone is struggling over the Knob Creek shortage. [C-J]

Although I don’t have any love for Berman, I really think JC made a mistake with his opinion on the open meetings law in regard to superintendent evaluations. Every school employee is ‘protected’ by confidentiality as far as their ‘file’ is concerned. I do think, however, that the public deserves a report from the board as to his/her overall performance.

On the Michael Jackson coverage: it certainly dominated the news when the US military was leaving major Iraqi cities, ramping up the war in Afghanistan, already suffering increased deaths of US soldiers, many Afghani citizens and having little to no news coverage.
It is very disturbing that all this is going on and we have in effect, a news blackout.
(and up front, I do not mean that as a sick pun–I respect MJ and his family–he was certainly a major talent)
