Oh Snap Monday of Leftover Fireworks & Such!

Why is it legal for Ed Worley to make $410,000 a year in rent from the Madison County Family Court? Is the Administrative Office of the Courts just in existence to funnel hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash to various folks around the Commonwealth? Why is it Ed Worley can legally take hundreds of thousands of dollars in state funds while he’s a member of the state legislature? [John Cheves]

The Courier-Journal had the gall to suggest the facts and evidence presented against Jerry Abramson last week were silly. You should read this bullshiz they published on Independence Day. The C-J still hasn’t bothered to explore all of the corruption and illegalities surrounding King Jerry. Not once. No wonder the paper’s parent company is laying off an additional 1,400 people. [C-J]

Can you believe Sarah Palin resigned on Friday? Jesus H. Wonder what the big scandal’s gonna be? And… uh… was she on speed during her resignation speech? Did she get into the meth? She makes Mark Sanford appear sane! [HuffPo]

It appears that Mark Sanford is a serial killer. [More HuffPo]

Could Sarah Palin be facing federal indictment over an embezzlement scandal? [Daily Kos]

Murray’s NPR station has done another great piece on those scary gays. One of the best stations in Kentucky. [WKMS]

WAIT! WAIT! This very same KACo mess was going on in the 1990s! And we knew about it! It’s sad that Frankfort will drop everything to hold hearings over a few hundred thousand at what’s effectively a state agency but won’t do a damn thing about millions being swindled at our state universities. [Ryan Alessi]

Is the fear mongering about the end of the Kentucky Derby just that? Apparently. [C-J]

Who thinks Trey Grayson is right about competition and the open market lowering health care costs? No one but closed-minded Bushites who continue to believe that “rationing” is an actual problem in this country. No one but closed-minded Bushites who seem to be unable to realize that the open market has put us in the terrible spot where in today. Trey underestimates America. He’s ignorant to believe the United States of America can’t create a health care system that actually works. [EITB]

Mitch McConnell is single-handedly responsible for all campaign finance corruption in the United States. He’s the one person screwing the Federal Election Commission. And he’s happy to be doing it. [Truth Out]

Will Attorney General Jack Conway protect Kentucky’s border from Cincinnati Sheriff Simon Leis? This guy must be as insane as the guy who stole that damn rock from the river. [Law Reader]

Why isn’t Crit Luallen going to run as Steve Beshear’s #2? Maybe because she has audited everything Larry Hayes has touched. Maybe because she should run herself. Maybe because her office has refused to succumb to meddling and refused to go after Beshear’s critics. [Al Cross]

What would you like to ask Daniel Mongiardo? Make it juicy. Also, what the crap is with Middleton’s religious schtick on a television news site? [Neil Middleton]

    “Mitch: The One-Man Wrecking Crew”

As I said in an earlier comment, Mitch McConnell is the USA’s Congressional King of Greed (and that’s saying a lot, given the company he keeps). Now that Abramoff and DeLay are no longer pulling Congress’s strings, ole Mitch is doing his best to make sure that the nation stays attached to the GOP’s big business/ big lobbyist interests. He cares for the guy and gal on Dixie Hwy. and the coal miners in Hazard as much as W. did, i.e., nada. And Empress Elaine is there to cheer on his avariciousness.

The CJ defense of Abramson’s corruption is as out of date and air brushed as the photo their so-called Forum uses of the Crook in Chief. Forum: spin from the people CJ wants to hear from.

I guess the FBI investigating Sarah Palin is just as bogus as all the ethic complaints against her have been.

The FBI took the unusual step of saying they are not investigating Sarah Palin.

Jake – If you need a good lawyer I can recommend a couple. You may not realize it yet, but you are about to be sued. You have mentioned Sarah Palin name and something negative about her.

The good Governor has put the media world on notice that if you say anything bad or even report that someone else said something bad about her she will sue.

Of course she’ll drop the suit a little over half way through the trial to so way a maverick she really is.

WOW brain fart on the punch line…

Of course she’ll drop the suit a little over half way through the trial to show what a maverick she really is.

Trey might need to take Econ 101 again. Prices are a means to ration scarce goods. A recent Economix blog post in the NYT covers this very fact.

The FBI has a policy in which they cannot confirm or deny an investigation. When a reporter calls up and says “Are you investigating Palin?” they are supposed to say: “We can’t confirm or deny.” Their nonstatement, when parsed, is actually quite telling. They too are prepared for the backlash and allegations of political targeting. Let’s say they are investigating misused funds from the Wasila stadium or how a 4 bd, 4 ba home was built with “leftover materials.” They could investigate this without specifically investigating Sarah Palin. She and her husband’s building buddies may be caught up in the investigation and charges though. I feel like I should use some more “question marks.”

When the FBI says they will neither confirm nor deny, that usually means they are.

    JAck London,
    From Bloomberg.com

Palin’s activities, including those as governor and mayor of the town of Wasilla, aren’t being probed, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

“Sarah Palin is not the subject of an FBI investigation,” said Eric Gonzalez, an FBI spokesman in Alaska, in a telephone interview today.
