I bed to differ, Jake. Johnny doesn't get my homo points for acting like an ass.
I'm not wanting 2009 to be the whole YEAR we mourn Jackson either, but he damn sure could have crossed his legs for a couple minutes and daydreamed about golf instead of retreating from what he's not comfortable with.
Oh wait, that's why he didn't have my homo points to begin with.

Whew...thank God he didn't vote to 'remember' MJ.
Wouldn't want to waste an "in recognition of" vote...not when other important votes that aren't a waste of lawmakers time like "recognizing Pat Summitt and the Tennessee Lady Vols on her 1000th victory" or "recognizing the Lumbee tribe of North Carolina". Both were apparently IMPORTANT votes that must not have been a waste of valuable legislative time and resources.

Funny though, there are so many bullshit votes 'in recognition of', that some people think it news when one of the DC political class actually votes to NOT recognize something...hehehe.
Too bad Northup isn't poised to ask Johnny why he voted against Christmas and MJ.

Well, we have Anne's new stump speech..."I would have honored Michael Jackson. My opponent did not. It begs the question, does John Yarmuth hate America?"

Wow, I may have to reconsider my opinion of Yarmuth. Give him credit for standing up for common sense.

I think it's appropriate to remember, before we thoroughly trash Michael Jackson, that he was reared to become a freak.

His abusive father denied him any semblance of a proper childhood.

People who aren't allowed to evolve normally through childhood and adolescence tend to remain fixated in a child-like state. Probably the most concerning effect of this is an attraction to children.

I think Michael Jackson died a severely damaged, unhappy person. It's clear that he was mentally and physically ill.

I offer this not as an excuse for what he might have done, but as an explanation that might advance our understanding and compassion.

I prefer to remember him for his music, which brought joy to millions worldwide.
