Poor old Jim Bunning’s fundraiser in Lexington last night? Hahaha. It was “postponed” until August because too many people are “on vacation.” HAHAHAHA. These stories really should come with pee alerts. Nice that Bill Caylor of King Coal is making Bunning’s excuses for him these days. It’s sad that the coal industry can’t even muster an audience for him. [Roll Call]
Homophobic wingnut Sally Kern is at it again. This time she’s blaming the recession/depression on “debauchery” – aka the homosexuals. For real. [HuffPo]

Governor Steve Beshear won’t say whether or not he plans on seeking a second term in office. He, likewise, said nothing about a potential new running mate. [Ronnie Ellis]

How will the minimum wage increase impact us in Kentucky? Kentucky Youth Advocates has released a report on the matter. [KYA Report - PDF]
Hemp could be the answer for rural Kentucky. But not while Frankfort is fat, ignorant and afraid of its own shado. [Barefoot & Progressive]
Nancy Rodriguez (or anyone else from the Courier-Journal) still hasn’t addressed Sheldon Berman’s lies about VHS. The paper published a story indicating that he wasn’t trying to make money for VHS. Then we uncovered a story published in a major newspaper that said, point blank, that he is trying to make money for VHS. Playing patsy for the people on your beat. Yay, journalism. [C-J]
Can you believe it? Yet another elected official in Kentucky spending your tax dollars with reckless abandon. Spencer County Judge-Executive David Jenkins is under fire for allegedly spending money at two Louisville strip clubs and at a Lexington escort service. He says his credit card number was “stolen” – hahaha. Right. This is absurd. Time to resign, David! [Ryan Alessi]

The Oklahoma legislature makes the Kentucky General Assembly seem sane, rational and civilized. We have our fair share of wingnuts here but Oklahoma increasingly takes the cake.

“KACo’s 2008 president, Spencer County Judge/Executive David Jenkins, says he doesn’t know who put $620 worth of charges at two Louisville strip clubs and a Lexington escort service on his KACo card. But he doesn’t dispute other charges at the Belterra Casino (“It must have been just us getting together to talk about some stuff,” he explained) and at Archibald’s & Fast Eddie’s Billiards in Washington. (Mr. Jenkins remembers being “wherever the pool hall was,” during a National Association of Counties event that he and other KACo officials attended.)”

— Funny thing is that Archibald’s is a Washington DC strip club.
