Really, what is it with David Williams’ lack of a filter? He’s apparently does this shiz just to come off as crazy. Or he really has no concept of what’s right and wrong.
Transferring $7 million in funds from the already-dying state employee health insurance trust fund to RACE TRACKS, no questions asked? Really?
Williams slipped this tidbit into his proposal that was passed by the Senate on Friday. Unfortunately, it wasn’t mentioned at all during committee hearings.
The pot of money that pays for state employee’s health insurance would be tapped for $7 million to loan to several horse racetracks under a little-noticed part of an alternative proposal to help the horse industry offered Friday by Senate President David Williams, R-Burkesville.
Under Williams’ plan, approved Friday by a Senate committee and the full Senate, the Personnel Cabinet would transfer $7 million from the state employee health insurance trust fund to the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission no later than July 1, 2009.
Only one individual passed on voting for the measure. Kathy Stein. She tells us she decided to pass on her vote because she wanted to know what she was voting before (i.e., wanted to read any legislation) before voting on it.
Too bad for Kentucky that every other state senator can’t say the same.

So, it’s OK for the state to gamble its employees’ health insurance funds to bolster horse racing, but it’s not OK for other people to gamble their own money to bolster the sport?
Is that what I’m to infer about the Senate’s “out-of-the-box” plan?

There was an article about this in the Herald-Leader yesterday from David Williams’ BFF Larry Dale Keeling: http://www.kentucky.com/974/story/837696.html
That god damn Larry Dale’s apparently still begging for a lawsuit.

As usual, Kathy Stein (not to be confused with Katie Stine) is the only one doing the right thing for KY.

@BillAdkins — from your mouth to God’s ear, on both counts

If we had a few more like her, it would come at the expense of David Williams and his trogs.
If that isn’t enough motivation, Kathy’ll call you herself seeking your vote.
Old fashioned politician with modern technology.

David Williams is one guy I wish had never been let out of the box.
