Mitch McConnell & Elaine Chao Got HUGE “Gift”

June 16th, 2009 · 8 Comments

Check this juicy tidbit from Politico a couple days ago:

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and his wife, former Labor Secretary Elaine Chao, received a personal gift from a family member worth between $5 million and $25 million, according to his annual financial disclosure report, which was released on Friday morning.

The gift came from Chao’s father, Dr. James S.C. Chao, a wealthy Chinese-born businessman, and it boosted McConnell’s personal worth from a minimum of $3 million in 2007 to more than $7 million.

“That was a gift from Secretary Chao’s father in April 2008 to the Senator and the Secretary, in memory of her mother, who passed away in August 2007,” said Don Stewart, McConnell’s spokesman. Ruth Mulan Chu was a historian.

Isn’t that cute? A “gift” worth up to $25 MILLION. A gift. Like it’s no big deal. From her shipping magnate father who is partners with the Chinese dictatorship.

How is it this is being ignored by the mainstream media?

To think you wonder why we think Mitch McConnell is the master of not just obstruction but corruption.

Bet Mitch is glad he didn’t put this on his personal financial disclosure until after the 2008 U.S. Senate election. Since he probably used that up to $25 million as collateral for his fancy $2 million loan his campaign got just ten days before the election, we guess you could say Mitch McConnell’s campaign victory really was financed by… get this… his RED CHINESE shipping magnate father-in-law and his dictator business partner.

The MSM ignores a lot these days.

Washington Post had the story Saturday and it appeared on the C-J’s Web site. Don’t know if it made the print edition; I found it through a link from someone I follow on Twitter.

“Lucky Chinese Cookies: Mitch & Elaine”

Yes, Jake, how Mitch and Elaine can do so well in life (like many right-wing zealots) by giving themselves credit for inheriting great wealth and privilege from Red China and cancer-producing tobacco industries. Now Empress Elaine can buy more Paris-perfumed lingerie to entice her Blue Grass Gelding. Recall how she made fun of U.S. workers who she claimed had terrible body odor and poor labor habits while she was Secretary of Labor (and did nada for those workers)? What “Made in Heaven” job does the Empress have now? Surely, some wingnut think tank paid for her services, so to speak.

Chao’s father is Taiwanese. So he’s more vile than a “Red”. He’s a traitor. Since he’s in bed, financially, with the Mainlanders – he’s evicted from Taiwan. The family lives in an enclave on the North end of the Island. Howdy & his ‘Boom-Chickie’ already have a residence there.

“No Black List for the McConnells”

Bimbeau, thanks for letting us know that the Empress’ folks are from Taiwan. I was about to write Sen. Bunning to enlist his support to open FBI investigations on any Red connections that Elaine and Mitch might have. I think Big Jim would have eagerly accepted (knowing how much he likes Mitch).

I’m extremely curious how the value of a” gift” cannot be pinned down within the precision of 20 Million Dollars…Have they tried dropping by a pawn shop for a quick appraisal?

Okay, I can’t let this go…if it were narrated by Lily Tomlin, or possibly Margaret Chou, “How much is my gift worth?” – would make a great adventure cartoon for progressive kids.

I’m not certain a pawn shop could adequately appraise an oil tanker/island nation/giant yacht/giant wad of cash…
