We went to the dedication of Kentucky’s Abraham Lincoln Memorial last Thursday and felt proud of our country and our misguided Commonwealth. Shared photos with you then. Now it’s time for videos, as promised.
Highlights of the event:
- Denise Harper Angel running from Jerry Abramson and then leaving before the event was over
- The absence of Governor Steve Beshear
- Jerry Abramson and David Karem having an animated conversation
- Greg Fischer walking around, unrecognized by most people, not looking mayoral in the least
- David Tandy walking around trying to get people to talk to him, thinking he’s mayoral, no luck, getting the cold shoulder from King Jerry
- Jerry Abramson not moving about the crowd, not talking to people, not looking mayoral
Here’s a video from the pre-event:

As you can see, we’re not a videographer and didn’t take a tripod. So you’ll have to deal with the rest of the footage. Though, we think it turned out okay.
See video of the entire evening’s event – including William Mapother’s closing narration after the jump…

Was Sylvia Lovely there? I hear she is expected to attend these sort of things.

Kind of makes you wish you were a lip reader in spots doesn’t it?

I get dizzy and almost puke every time I try to read their lips.
But.
We have several hearing-impaired readers who are great at reading lips. Anyone care to chime in?

TJ, Cordish wouldn’t pay Sylvia’s appearance fee, even though it was a mere fraction of what Paris charged. Of course, not too many folks want to see Sylvia’s hootch.

Your pictures aren’t from the Pre-Event. That event was held at the Waterfront Plaza 22nd/23rd floor residence of George Fischer, Greg’s dad starting at 6:30pm. The media were not present. David Karem was emcee, many corporate types, donors, legislators and councilmembers were there, as was the Attorney General and his pregnant wife. Senator Dan Kelly was singled out as the most important legislator on the project. Lots of good food and drink and views to die for all around the city. The sculptor Mr Hamilton and most of his family was there. Other assorted players attended. The Mayor and Mrs. Abramson were there. Your friend Jeff Noble even played the piano in the parlor, which overlooks the Waterfront Park. After the speeches, they all put on special pins and boarded trolleys which conveyed them over to the unveiling.

The Fischers did, indeed, host a reception for legislators and such prior to the dedication. (Might the reception’s location and host have something to do with Greg wanting to run for mayor? Could have been hosted at the WDC building just up the street.)
But my video (not pictures) is clearly pre-event. Doesn’t take a brain scientist to figure that out.
