With the special legislative session just one week away, some thoughts.

Anyone else think the gambling thing is unlikely to come to fruition?

And if it doesn’t, will those now in charge of the State House be subjected to the same attacks which former Speaker Jody Richards was subjected? Remember, he “killed” gambling. It was all his fault. That’s why Greg Stumbo was elected Speaker.

These new guys in House leadership were elected on the promise that they would get it done. But. They’ll likely blame someone other than themselves. Like, say, David Williams if/when it fails.

It really is like Groundhog Day. Same factors of 2008 are in play today. Our economic outlook is way more bleak but the push for expanded gambling is hardly stronger. But the big thing? Greg Stumbo and the rest of House leadership will blame someone else when failure is upon us.

And Kentucky is left in a rut. But we’re ready to flush $60,000 per day down the toilet for a special session.
