Trey Grayson Wants to Know What You Think

June 4th, 2009 · 11 Comments

Earlier this afternoon, Trey Grayson’s exploratory committee sent out an email blast asking for feedback about whether or not he should run for the U.S. Senate.

Grayson asks that comments be emailed to info@treygrayson.com.

In addition to stirring the pot and asking for contributions, here’s what Grayson says he’ll work for if elected:

  • Limited government, balanced budgets, and low taxes.
  • Individual liberty and free enterprise.
  • Secure borders and a strong national defense.
  • A national energy policy that will increase domestic production and investments in renewable fuels and clean coal technology.
  • Our conservative Kentucky values.

So what do you think, Kentucky?

Probably a response to Ron Paul’s e-mail in support of Rand. Seriously.

    1) no, thanks. 2) nope. 3) not quite. 4) definitely not. 5) uhhh, never?

I think TJ & Taylor have it right.

I think it would be best to find out how Trey defines the terms before one says “yes” or “no.”
If he is for “limited government,” then why hasn’t he voluntarily cut the size of his department and removed any no longer needed regulations? Since he hasn’t done so, his definition of “limited government” is different than my definition.

Another example, “individual liberty” also means different things to different people. For example, is he for both “gay rights” and the rights of people to own any gun they choose? What about those areas where one person’s “individual liberty” conflicts with another person’s “individual liberty” (which is what the abortion battle is all about)?

I wonder where Trey stands on no pay increases for any legislator when the budget has a deficit?
If he favors that, I might vote for him, especially since he hasn’t come out against us over-30 computer professionals as Rand Paul has.

I think I’ll have another beer.

Well, one this is clear, the crazy rand paul-ites love to spin things on blogs. Rand is a fringe candidate at best. His father (in a presidential race no less) only got 13,000 votes. No one with any political sense expects him to do any better.

    Greg:
Those crazy people believe in “money bombs” which should help Rand Paul get the money he needs for advertising – although all that got Billy Harper was a third place finish. However, Lunsford did win the primary with no political experience, just a lot of money, so who really knows.
Nevertheless, I expect the Republican primary is Grayson’s to lose, and I expect Rand Paul to at least finish far ahead of Cathy Bailey, if she decides to run. Her proponents are not as zealous, but she would win if only those on the Republican Party Executive Committee were allowed to vote. Paul’s only chance of winning is if Trey Grayson and David Williams (the State Senate leader, not the other one) both decide to run and both go negative on each other.

The fact that Grayson would ask people about this now means that they now believe that Bunning will be dropping out.

Trey has a few oxymorons in what he say’s he will work for if elected.

    Larry West –

You mentioned gay rights. Of Trey, Jack, and Dan, the only one who has let us know where he stands is Dan. Trey has talked from both sides of his mouth on the subject; Jack has talked from neither.

I think he left out “apple pie”.

The candidate who proclaims being the biggest money raiser isn’t a great thing to me. Once they are elected they have to pay back more expensive favors and wasteful, stupid projects to their contributors…Ultimately hurting the taxpayer…
