Here’s the dilly because we’re too lazy to do more than summarize today:
- 3% across the board cuts
- Education spared
- State parks spared
- Prisons spared
- Medicaid spared (because more federal Medicaid dollars are being received this year)
- 1% teacher pay raise
- Funds public defenders, student financial aid and retirement for teachers
- Cutting 3 paid holidays for state workers making less than $50,000
- Cutting 5 paid holidays for those making more than $50K
Get ready, ladies, it’s about to hit the fan in Frankfort.

OK, so the higher paid folks will be working on those days, but those making less won’t? Huhhh? The exec will be in the office, but his secretary will be off?

You got it backward.
The under 50s = 3 days cut.
The over 50s = 5 days cut.
The more you make, the more you have to give up.

So now Beshear’s calling “furloughs” “unpaid holidays” instead.
The legislature didn’t go for it last winter and they won’t go for it this time.
ValleyGirl, no, the state offices will still be closed, but the people will have to take an upaid day off instead of a paid day off.
