Oh Snap Monday! We’re All Povertied Messes

June 1st, 2009 · 3 Comments

Does anyone remember when Gus Goldsmith promised a million dollars to the Center for Women and Families when he was accused of beating his wife? He only coughed up half of that. And now he’s involved with this Wayside JCTC mess? Somebody with CWF should remove that man’s name from the CWF building.

A fancy morning rumor: We hear that Jefferson County Public Schools Supe Sheldon Berman may or may not have taken his late night “running buddy” on a two-week trip outside the country. Bet they’re going on lots of late night runs.  In addition to “professional development” in Cape Town. [Educational Rumor Mill]

David Williams is none too thrilled about a special legislative session. We’re hearing a lot of rumbling from his camp of people. Several of them tell us they’re lobbying the governor in an attempt to dissuade him from officially calling a special session. [H-L]

Right-wing extremism is extreme. Killing someone because they support abortion? Yeah, makes tons of sense. [MSNBC]

Who refuses to condemn the ridiculous racist comments from Rush Limbaugh and Newt Gingrich? Mitch McConnell. Don’t miss the video of your Senator. [HuffPo & Crooks & Liars]

The entirety of Washington is puzzled by Jim Bunning. And he just keeps on keeping on like everyone believes him. [Jim Carroll]

23 State House and Senate aides have racked up $300,000 in overtime. Some staffers received an additional $10,000 per year. If you do the work, you obviously deserve the pay. But this is a lot of money we need to adjust the budget for if we’re gonna do it. [H-L]

Actually, recording me on video without my consent and using it for your own personal profit isn’t legal. But keep on with your old man schtick. Keep ignoring the bits where I point out how much of a hypocrite you are for always trying to get money (LPAC, Mongiardo Video). And keep on promoting the libelous and slanderous bull Jim Anderson Stivers, a guy many people tell me they believe is batshit crazy, is peddling. And you’ll be sitting pretty with nearly everyone. [Jim Pence]

Is it possible that Morehead State University’s Ag program had some of these giant cattle in the early 1980s? Seem to remember encountering gigantor cattle and pigs at MSU’s ag farm in Morehead way back in the day. But the memory is a bit blurry. [Gigantic Belgian Monster Cows]

Sarah Palin’s hometown newspaper wants to know if the antichrist will be a homosexual. Obviously, all gays are the antichrist. They threaten violence if their ways aren’t accepted. And all gays want to make offending them illegal. [Frontiersman]

Is this Hardin County trial worth the money the Commonwealth is spending? Most people believe so. [News-Enterprise]

Has Nataie Bolton Stiglitz,or whatever her name is, filed a conflict of interest form with UL over her relationship with Berman? She is doing work for JCPS in her capacity as a UL employee so this is something that should be documented.

Did JCPS pay for their trip to Cape Town? Good thing we are paying him such a healthy salary. It must be gosh darn expensive to support two homes, three children (one with special needs), a wife, and a girlfriend who travels the world with him.

Enjoyin’ your stuporous nap, school board members?

Let’s leave his children out of this. There’s absolutely no reason to believe he’s not a good parent or that he doesn’t adequately support them.

That said, the Board of Education isn’t napping. Several folks have recently mentioned to us that they’re using much greater scrutiny than they’ve ever used and are focusing on Berman. Though, a few board members seem to be absolutely snowed and ignorant. But they’re definitely not napping.

When one is in a position of authority, where one’s decisions affect many lives, and that position is one of public responsibility and the salary is paid by taxpayers, one should not have the kind of distractions which seem to be happening in Berman’s life. Kentucky’s children deserve better.
