Can you believe the rumor mill these days?
The hot gossip floating around Frankfort and around Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson’s office is that Abramson sat down with Governor Steve Beshear and agreed to run with him as Lt. Governor in 2011.
We aren’t sure whether to throw up the delicious cantaloupe we just ate or cower in fear because Kentucky has gone to shiz.
What’s your take, ladies? Is this typical Abramson posturing?
Jerry? Really? We’d pick Crit over him. And, to be honest, we’d leave office and let Crit run if we were Steve Beshear. Otherwise the Governor’s mansion is going to fall into Republican hands. Sadly, Crit’s too good of a person to mess with that junk. And Kentucky is once again missing out.

Ye, Lord, please let it be true. Abramson out of City Hall. Even if he won as Lt. Gov. (not bloody likely, I’d say) it would take him a while to set up his patch of loyal buds and contractors at the state level and he’d have to deal with rivals in the legislature who wouldn’t sit back quite as easily as Metro Council. So–yes!!!! Run Jerry,, Run–just not for metro mayor.
And yes, Jake, Crit would be lots and lots better. So let her kill off the guys in the primary and send them both home badly wounded.
Anyway, hope springs eternal. I’ll buy you another melon.

What Republican?
It won’t be Trey.
If Bunning drops out, which looks more likely, Trey will run for Senate. That means that either he will win, or he’ll get his ass kicked to the point that he won’t try another statewide race a year after getting beaten by either Conway or Mongiardo.
None of the federal delegation, where the best pool of candidates exists, has expressed an interest to my knowledge. I’d love to see Rogers or Davis run for governor but neither one will. That leaves Whitfield, who isn’t well-enough known outside his district to mount a good statewide campaign. Ron Lewis won’t return to politics to run.
So who’s left? Richie? I don’t think the voters of this state are dumb enough to elect him governor, although you never know. Minnesota elected Jesse The Body, and California elected the Terminator. So anything’s possible.

I’d vote for the moron Jim Bunning for guvnah before I put Abramson back in ANY office.

Bob – How is it not likely that Abramson wins if he runs for LG? Beshear has to be considered a favorite for reelection at this point, doesn’t he? Who would step up to beat him?

Rather than the favorite, are you sure Steve Beshear isn’t merely the only person Democrats have to run in the gubernatorial?

Conservative:
Trey can win the Senate if Conway is the Democratic candidate — all he has to do is mentioned to those out in the state that Conway is from Louisville – perhaps displaying some pro-U of L Cardinals statement from him – and he will be a shoe-in. Do you really think people in the rural areas will accept two senators from Louisville?
If Rand Paul does respectably in the Senate Primary (say 40% in a two-way race, given some peoples’ expectations for him), then he could use that to win the Governor’s mansion (by showing he is legitimate), especially if Abramson is on the Democratic ticket.
I’d much rather see a Libertarian-type as the leader of an executive branch than one of many in the legislative branch anyway.
In regards to Richie, remember who the Democrats nominated as his opponent before you judge the intelligence of some of the electorate.

“He’s from Louisville” – a tired argument, as we and others have pointed out countless times.
If Daniel Mongiardo is the nominee, there’s plenty of dirt to talk about. Don’t think for a second that his negatives research book that’s three inches thick won’t go public.
And Rand Paul? HAHAHA.

I’ve talked about this alot. Trey G. will run for US Senate and Beshear is definitely a one termer. He has old political hacks filling his non merit positions, They brought along their old hack ideas which are solely – Let me do little so I can draw a good paycheck while not creating any problems … or solutions.
If Trey decides to not run for US Senate, he certainly will run against Beshear and its Bye Bye Beshear.
If Trey doesn’t, Richie will stomp Beshear easier than Trey would.
Damn, Richies TV team will include Rick Pitino and John Calipari. You say big deal!! but look at the state Kentucky is in, we are broke as we have been for 50 years, we are no smarter than we were 50 years ago. We are still in the bottom 5 of every economic category in the USA and we are a Welfare state. We receive $1.58 for every $1 we pay in Federal Taxes.
Beshear refuses to not collect the $922m owed in back income taxes. Beshear refuses to collect vehicle taxes owed in Northern Kentucky, maybe $250m.
Do we want to keep electing the same career politicians or try someone new? hell I’ll vote for Jake before I vote for another incumbent in ANY election.

Every day Governor Beshear gets closer to the 2011 elections is a day that Richie Farmer gets closer to being called Governor-elect. And Jerry Abramson will only make it easier.

GO DANNY BOY GO!!!!!!
I dont know about rumor number 2 but it could be true. I am sure many of your readers can picture (gasp) another man on top of jeri.
Hey Gov make sure you dont drop your soap.

Would this help Steve Pence to not be remembered as the only Lt Gov to want to @#@# his sitting Gov?

The idea sucks only because it doesn’t take Mayor Jer away from Louisville soon enough. We need him gone after the 2010 election, if not sooner.

I will vote against Jerry every chance I get.
