What’ll The “Family Foundation” Spew Today?

May 28th, 2009 · 5 Comments

What will Marty Cockring and the “Family Foundation” spew today about casino gambling and how bad it is for the Baby Jesus or whatever?

From Jack Brammer:

The Family Foundation has scheduled a 1:30 p.m. news conference Thursday in the Capitol Rotunda in Frankfort to announce legal action “regarding the unconstitutional slots-at-the-tracks legislation and the special session that is currently being proposed.”

A media advisory from the Lexington-based group also said it will give “an evidentiary packet” to the governor and make public its contents.

Should be interesting.

We also hear that alternative gambling legislation (something other than Stumbo’s plan) is likely to be introduced ASAP.

Be sure to check the comment on that story. It’s none other than the apparently senile asshat who thinks they can libel and slander us into silence.

UPDATE @ 12:50:

Merely threatening to sue.

That’s all.

What’s wrong with clearing up the issue of legality concerning casino gaming re the Kentucky Constitution before convening a legislative cluster*uck? If my memory serves I seem to re-call that the Ky Lottery had to shelve plans for a Keno style game because of legal questions. We call these people lawmakers, right?

This statement scares the hell out of me “He estimated that tracks and the horse industry would get 75 percent of the first $100 million and 65 percent of anything over $100 million.

The “first” $100,000,000. How many do they expect? With this kind of thinking is there not any reason to believe why Ketucky state government is owed $922,000,000 in back income taxes? After VLT’s, will it go to $2,000,000,000?

Have we forgotten Ketucky is one of the 4 poorest states in the USA and now our government wants to bleed off multiple hundreds of millions of dollars from the citizens of Kentucky.

Way to go Beshear, you are such a one-termer!

So let me get this straight.
These folks are willing to sue in an effort to dictate/control/force/restrict (take your pick of words) how a free person having earned their own money is able to recreate with or spend that money, while NOT offending another persons’ constitutional rights.
Oh yeah…now I remember why I left the republican party!

Republicans aren’t so much against having casinos we’re against having state-owned casinos. If Kentuckians freely want casinos, we can change the Constitution to allow them.

What if the Family Foundation gave a press conference and no one showed up? That was answered yesterday. As I understand it three people attended. The Family Foundation is marginalized – but then, it started out that way.
