That’s right. We’re rolling out of the Commonwealth for a week or so and will be crossing the country. We’ll be in various towns and cities across the southwest over the next several days while working on a project. But we’ll still be writing on a regular basis. And maybe Rick will pick up the slack a bit?

This is our first workcation in two years. So. Everyone needs to email us sights to see in the southwest.

Louisville is wasting thousands and thousands of dollars are ridiculous advertising campaigns that don’t do much to promote the city outside of Louisville. This is probably the worst waste in a few months. Worse than when “Possibility City” advertised with us but didn’t want to reach outside the metro area– which is fairly lame, as the people you should be reaching out to live outside of Louisville. The Food and Drug Administration could be responsible for regulating tobacco if legislation being considered today is passed in Washington. [Jim Carroll]

Bank of Louisville, now BB&T/Branch Banking & Trust, was found liable for fraud and a Louisville couple was awarded $10.6 million in damages. The bank used false information in 2002 to persuade customers to consolidate loans to one mortgage with the bank. After pushing Larry & Linda Thompson into a bogus lending relationship, the bank dried up the Thompson’s business and refused to let them buy real estate. All right for fraud. [C-J]

The Lexington Herald-Leader is not happy with the rushed hiring decision at the University of Kentucky. Ruh ro. [H-L]

Frankfort is abuzz this week with rumors that Attorney General Jack Conway plans to announce his candidacy for the United States Senate tomorrow or Friday. Everyone knows he’s going to announce so it’s a bit surprising to us that everyone would be giddy like school girls, gossiping in excitement that the date of announcement could be near.
