Regarding Beshear's approval, doesn't anyone find these numbers interesting:

                 Approve Disapprove
Con 49 46
Mod 54 39
Lib 53 41
Rep 40 57
Dem 33 61
Ind 34 41

What an odd little coalition brewing on both sides and somehow, I don't see 40% of Republicans crossing over to support him in 2011; that many didn't even vote for him in 2007. Beshear's biggest strength appears to be among 65+ retired, married people (perhaps living in Western KY). Scare those people in 2011 (and their caregiver) and whoever runs against him in a primary or general can walk in to Frankfort. BTW, what's up with the reverse gender gap?

The KREF thing is explained pretty easily. The funds were transfered into their 2010 accounts (although when I searched, Westrom's money was all still there.) The more disturbing thing is that people are still allowed to paper file their reports, which means their expenditures never make it on-line. I wish the GA had passed that law this year (which Trey was pushing).

You answered your own question on the Beshear endorsement-- he's using Mongiardo as a way to try and prop up his brand going into 2011.
