All right. This is getting embarrassing. Daniel Mongiardo’s Senate campaign is STILL violating– apparently willfully– Federal Election Commission laws. After being called out by us at least a dozen times.
The latest is this email sent to individuals who received a solicitation letter in the mail last week. We shared that letter with you last Friday, when we pointed out that the letter was violating campaign finance regulations. Then came this email with absolutely no ‘paid for by’ disclaimer:
From: “Dr.Dan”
Subject: , did you get my letter?
Date: March 27, 2009 4:41:01 PM EDTDear X,
I hope you received the letter I sent last week regarding my campaign for U.S. Senate. In the letter, which I have reprinted below, I discuss why I decided to run and why this race is winnable.
The books on my first financial report, a report that will be read closely by Democrats in Kentucky and around the country as our first real sign of strength, will be closed at midnight March 31st.
I am emailing today to ask you to make an immediate donation to the campaign. Please click on www.drdanforkentucky.com and make your contribution on-line – $100, $50, $35, or whatever you can will make a real difference.
Or, if you prefer, please send your check to Mongiardo for Senate, PO Box 4023, Frankfort, KY 40604. Your envelope must be postmarked by March 31 for it to count on this first critical report!
Thank you for your support!
Sincerely,
Daniel MongiardoP.S. Again, just in case you missed it, here is the letter that I recently sent out to you and other friends and supporters.
Letter From Daniel
Guess that’s how it’s gonna be. The campaign is going to continually violate the law, giving us ample material. Not to mention giving Republicans plenty of material with which to file FEC complaints. Nice work.
On a related note: Are you receiving emails from Mongiardo’s campaign at accounts you’ve never used for his campaign? Like, say, accounts you created specifically for signing up with the Greg Fischer campaign, the Beshear-Mongiardo campaign or Billy Harper’s campaign? Yeah, interesting, we know. And we hope to see an expenditure on Mongiardo’s campaign finance reports indicating that he paid for those campaign databases. (And WTF re: the Harper campaign? Strange.)
