Dear Mongiardo Camp: Please Read FEC Guides

March 27th, 2009 · 3 Comments

Could you please, just once, read the Federal Election Commission’s candidate guidebook?

Please? You can find the guidebook and other documents here. Or you could also read about all federal campaign finance law here.

Because you’ve gotta start following the law.

Your latest fundraising mailing, while containing a rough form of a disclaimer, doesn’t meet FEC requirements. Your federally-required disclaimer must be inside a box.

It may seem trivial, but not when combined with the dozen or so other non-compliance issues we’ve already uncovered in the past month. This isn’t a small town mayoral race. It’s a campaign for the United States Senate. If a candidate can’t get hit the simplest of guidelines spot-on, how are we, the voters, supposed to believe they can hit the big things once they’re in office?

To detractors: You supported us when we pointed out Greg Fischer’s campaign shenanigans and you loved it when when we went after Bruce Lunsford’s screw-ups. You don’t get to feign offense now that we’re pointing out something your favored candidate can’t seem to get right.

To those who support Dr. Dan, remember you can’t be so Progressive here in KY. You have to go along with the GOP and sponsor their legislation against teh Gay.

In so doing the GOP will go easy on you. They will only refer to you as “limp wristed” or as a “switch hitter”, or say that you look like one of Saddam’s sons. Nothing too personal though. They wouldn’t even say anything about your wife, that would be completely out of the question. Don’t ya know.

So Dan, you just run off to the Senate and sign up with Sen. Bayh and his boys. They will make sure you feel right at home.

Good point: the best that can be expected by Dr.Dan is that he will register with the Sergeant-at-Arms of the Senate as a Demi-crat.
