Daniel Mongiardo– three months later– finally has a website. He’s recorded a video about why he’s running for the U.S. Senate. The video, which is 95% about health care (we get that he’s a doctor, but why would it make him a good senator?), has a mention of coal toward the end. So, I suppose we’re left to assume he supports health care and coal. Anyone else care to take a moment to analyze the video?

As a bio/intro ad , I’d give Mongiardo a solid 8. As long as he doesn’t go overboard on the Dr. Dan bit, there’s nothing wrong with highlighting his MD background, especially given that Americans still favorably view doctors as opposed to, say, lawyers or lawyer/polticians.

On the jail story, the Herald Leader reporter missed a great opportunity to talk to Teresa Isaac, who was in office when the inmate died.
Given Isaac’s prior comments about having viewed the evidence and found nothing, it seems her insight would be interesting now and will only get more interesting as the campaign continues.
