President Barack Obama today announced $2 billion in Recovery Act 2009 funding allocations for state and local law enforcement assistance available through the Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program, including more than $24 million for the state of Kentucky. The JAG Program supports a variety of efforts such as hiring and support for law enforcement officers; multijurisdictional drug and gang task forces; crime prevention and domestic violence programs; and courts, corrections, treatment, and justice information sharing initiatives. The Kentucky Agricultural Finance Corporation, chaired by Richie Farmer, approved $356,044 in agricultural loans for projections across the Commonwealth during a board meeting today. The applicants who were approved are from Adair, Hancock, Logan and Shelby counties. Obama says, “don’t put your money in the mattress.” The government has been wrong on everything lately. So when they give you advice–like invest or keep your money in banks–you might as well do the opposite.
