Martin Cothran seems to be using the same old, tired and untrue line that kids aren’t safe around same-sex couples because they’re more likely to be pedophiles than heterosexual couples.
…in a written statement, Martin Cothran, of the Family Foundation, shot back that it was the Fairness Alliance and other gay-rights groups that were using children to push their own agendas.
“Unfortunately, however, there are people so fixated on their own political agendas that, when it comes to the placement of children, safety takes a back seat,” Cothran said.
Maybe it’s a good time to point out that heterosexuals are fare more likely to be pedophiles?
The same goes for Gary Tapp Tapp Tapp, who had something similar to say:
“The bill is necessary for the welfare of our children,” he said. “It’s a proven fact that children are better off raised in a safe, loving environment.”
That’s right– kids are just unsafe around gay people.
And it appears that Greg Stumbo, whom we personally know not to have been a bigot in the past, has lost his testicles:
If the bill passes the Senate, it probably will be assigned to the House Judiciary Committee, House Speaker Greg Stumbo said yesterday. Stumbo, a Prestonsburg Democrat, didn’t state a position on SB 68 but said it is an issue that needs further debate.
Kentucky is awesome.

Even if it were true that a married male and female couple were best at creating a healthy environment for raising children, why stop there?
I’m sure that a working 6’0″ Caucasian male, and a stay-at-home 5’6″ Asian mom, with a professionally trained golden retrieve, would test even higher. So, shouldn’t we exclude those who don’t match those specifications? And what if the child doesn’t get straight A’s? Back to the orphanage you go! Get into a fight at school? No more parents for that kid!
What if it a study was conducted and it actually found a female/female household actually produced the most successful/healthy children? Should the law then be changed to exclude heterosexuals from adopting?
Let’s make it a huge competition. Every year we’ll do a massive study, and only those whose demographic tests the highest get to keep their children. Come on, it’ll be fun! After all, it’s for the kids.
