Anti-harrassment

If this was your child and you were not allowed to be in his life, would you still be able to make that same cold and calloused statement. I find your comments troubling at best. This man is a father and he deserves to be in his child's life regardless if he has not been able to have the child overnight. Mr. Rhoades has more guts and love for his child than you will ever have. He did what was right for the love of his child. Who are you to judge him.

what makes everyone think the marriage is in jeopardy? what makes everyone think they wont tell the child the truth as soon as he is old enough to understand? lets see- the child must be approaching 3, the husband has known about the infidelity since shortly after the child was born.....sounds like the marriage is doing just fine, despite Rhoades efforts to destroy it with the media blitz and billboard barrage (only in Lou i might add, though its a statewide bill.....why is that?) Hmm, if the mother isnt lying to the child, and she still loves her husband, tell me again why Rhoades should disrupt this happy family? Its not like the mother was ever separated from her husband. She wasnt. Ever. She never lived a single day with Rhoades. Rhoades never lived a single day with the child. The wife made a mistake, a child was apparently conceived, the wife chose, despite her mistake, to tell her husband and risk everything, and amazingly, the husband is willing to forgive and move on. What really is best for the child- to be yanked from his home unit to spend time with a man he has never spent an entire day with his entire life? Or to grow up with the man willing to forgive his wife's infidelity and love the child as one of his sons? Really, what is best for the child?

Pass the bill and truth would triumph over fraud, deception, and lying. Religious groups can often find a rationale for their opinions that may not be appropriate. That celibate RC Bishps think they have some form of moral authority or insights this will cause a marriage to fail is not necessarily logical.

What they are saying is the women's rights trump the fathers. That is far less than equal treatment. If the marriage is in jeopardy give sole custody to the dad and give the mother visiting rights. A child has every right to know their bio dad under the circumstances. They will adjust to it and be the better for it.

Marriage? Child?

The woman made a mess of her marriage and now the Catholic Conference supports giving her the power to make a mess of the child.

Somebody should tell the Archdiocese it's the 21st century and blended families are now the norm.
