We hear that David Williams isn’t just interested in the U.S. Senate race, as The Hill reports, but that he’s IN the race against Jim Bunning.
Two major Republican operatives have called in the past hour to bring it up. And we hear Ellen Williams may captain his ship.
WTF.
The rest of this legislative session is going to be crazy.
We also hear that Crit is telling people she’ll enter the race, despite telling others that she’ll back Jack. So go figure.

Oh god. PLEASE let it be David. He and Bunning beating on each other in a primary would be epic theater, and neither one of them are strong enough to beat a quality dem to begin with.
As for Crit…oh my. Jake, any word from the people who think she’s in on if this is the end of the Jack-Crit team ball, or were we all witnesses to an epic rope-a-dope?

very possible that crit got the word the governor told conway he’ll endorse his favorite running mate in a big way. jack is having to ask people to make choices between he and dan. although he gets the easy nod down in louisville, once you are out of there, people just arent willing to go against the governor. besides thats a hard choice for most given jack and dan have almost identical views, even on things that jack didn’t cosponsor and dan did. everyone thinks jack is a liberal but there is nothing to prove that. crit is aware there is no true progressive in the race – she could fill that role.

Congratulations, Senator Mongiardo.

Interesting– because both Mongiardo’s and the Governor’s people tell me the Governor will not be endorsing him.
Guess time will tell.
I don’t think Crit is serious. She does this every year, every race. She tells more people she’s supporting Jack than she tells people she’s serious.

Williams is having delusions of grandeur. I can’t think of a worse candidate (other than Bunning). There is no more polarizing figure in Kentucky politics than that asshole. Republican leaders will make a stupid decision if they line up behind Williams. Let’s go ahead and give up the seat now.

This is interesting.
Crit isn’t going to run, the Governor isn’t going to endorse “Dr. Dan”, and Jack will actually… oh I don’t know… beat the Republicans in the fall… My god… when will the party in Kentucky get with it.

You are right on Jake. Crit always says she’s running for something. Then at the last minute she runs for the exit.
The only electable Pubs in Ky right now are Trey and Richie. I think Jack wins hands down if he and Williams lock horns.

Honestly, I think this is posturing from the NRSC to scare poor old (senile?) Jim Bunning.
David isn’t making donor calls and it’s the middle of the session… so… really, how likely is it that he’s SERIOUSLY considered it?

Here’s a thought as to what’s going on…David is a smoke screen to get Bunning out of the race…The real Williams interested in running is Ellen Williams. Watch and see!

I’d vote for Ellen Williams in a heartbeat.
